Storage compartments in bed

The doors on my storage compartments will not stay closed. They fall open almost as soon as I get on the highway. I have tried tightening the philips screw on the latch mechanism but it seems flimsy and I don't want to overtighten it and bust it. Searched this site but can't find anything. WTF am I the only one? I keep checking the rearveiw and expecting to see that little door flying out onto the freeway!

 

sounds like the tabs are loose when they are in the closed position, I'd just bend them a slight bit toward the covers so they bite into the slot a bit more

 

Replace them with cabinet locks from your local hardware store, about $5 for each. Do a search and you should come up with the DIY mod that shows you how to do it. It's pretty easy.

 

Just don't forget to squirt some WD-40 in there every once in a while. I looked like a schmuck when 1 of the 2 locks stayed locked and I couldn't easily get to my tie-downs.

 

The two tabs on the cover that drop into the slots in the bed might have broken off.

 

Thanks guys but I don't really need or want to lock them. I just don't want to have to worry about them blowing out of the truck. I'll try bending the tabs first.
