As far as I know you cant really reserve the primitive sites, just the cabins abnd bunk houses, I might be wrong though.

 

What time is everyone planning on arriving Friday? We might head up there Friday morning from Houston, not sure yet.

 

Well do you want to reserve a cabin or bunkhouse?

Not sure. I want to leave pretty early from Beaumont so I don't get there and set up in the dark.

 

I'm coming over saturday. Remember southern guys.. up here it been nipy at night.. so check the weather before you leave. BMRA is on a hill so wind loves to blow.

 

So is there anything you would suggest that a first timer brings?

 

If you are camping.. bring cloths that you don't mind getting dirty.. the dirt/ mud stains cloths bad. I have camped there so many times.. was sleeping in the back of my XJ but as more recovery gear I packed I had to get a tent lol. Depends on the weather and how you like the cold make sure you have warm enough sleeping bag. If it's been dry really dry if you are there and it's windy
.. that orange dirt gets into everything. Expect orange dust coming from your vents even when you get back home haha that's if you wheel with the doors off or windows down.

 

Still sounds 20 times better than wheeling in Lubbock

 

Wow, I never saw this thread....Looking forward to pictures. Still battling my knee surgery so I won't be coming out.

 

I will be out there with TTR, their monthly meet is to Barnwell for old jambo weekend.

 

I'm torn, wheel the taco with bald tires or wheel the bone stock land cruiser

I've just acquired the problem, and girlfriend was not thrilled about the issue

 

I'll be coming in late Friday so I will just meetup with y'all early Saturday

 

We'll be doing tent camping at one of the primitive sites, most likely the DFWTX site since TTR will probably be setup at their own site. I'd like to leave by 11 on Friday, no later than 12 if possible.

 

With all the people coming on Friday evening and Saturday we'll probably get there Friday morning vs Thursday and save a bit of money staying at a group member's farm.

And like I said before, bone stock land cruiser, skinny pedal

 

I didn't think the park was open on Thursday, with the exception of large events.

 

Looks like its going to be a big meet. Might make it if I have my truck ready by then.
