If you are replacing the UCA's, the passenger side will definitely have to be cut, unless you lift the body from the frame. That said, only the passenger side has to be cut so you'll only need to order one bolt from Toyota. The process of actually cutting the bolt is very easy and fast.

I planned on cutting at least one. Haven't contacted Toyota to order the part yet, but I'll order 2 just in case. Those that have done this, did you order through Toyota or somewhere else? How long did it take? Link if purchased elsewhere?

I got mine directly from my dealerships parts department. It's such a long bolt, I dont know where else you'd find it except for maybe RockAuto? Anyhow, only took a few days to get it in.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the extra inch on the 16s comes from stiffer factory springs which will translate to only 2" of lift when using the same lift that would get 3" on the 2nd gen.

I was able to get both UCA bolts out without cutting them. Yes, the passenger side is a lot tighter but doable you just gotta bend a little more of the fender. I used a pair of sheet metal vice grips to bend (and unbend) the inner fender, and at the same time used a long 3/8 socket extension to tap the bolt out. Would it be easier to just order new bolts? maybe, just thought I would share my experience.

Damn, you must of had to bend the shit out of the passenger side to get that bolt out.. That's what I tried first, however after seeing how much I was going to have to bend, I just opted to cut and replace the bolt.

Yup. Though you can barely tell it was ever bent especially once those rubber guard things are put back on.

I'm saying you get 1" of down travel (wheel droop as you say it)

Right, but where is that 1" measured? At the shock? At the wheel? I'm new to off-roading, but can't imagine one extra inch of down travel is worth much of anything, and certainly not worth paying for. Or am I wrong?

The uca, lca, wheel travels down 1" more. And yes that is quite a bit.
It's called suspension travel because all of the suspension components travel up or down. So 1" of down travel is just 1" of down travel. Not sure how else to explain it
