    Electric Motors in the wheels...like this;;;
    Lohner_Porsche.jpg
The Lohner-Porsche Mixte Hybrid (sometimes wrongly referred to as Löhner-Porsche) was the first hybrid vehicle developed by Ferdinand Porsche. First prototypes were two-wheel drive, battery-powered electric vehicles with two front wheel hub-mounted motors. A later version was a series hybrid using hub-mounted electric motors in each wheel, powered by batteries and gasoline-engine generator. 1900-1905

Ok now this is ridiculous .... diesel engines, electric motors ... trains ... no matter what the cost of the diesel engine .... the price of the TRACKS to run them from my house to work would be crazy!

You mean the towing comparison ?

Most people on this site don't tow with their Tacomas

Then buy your Hylander, cut off the back and have at it. Just don't whine when they don't make it in your color...taupe. Hybrids are for girlly men. Real men like breathing soot and dying early of lung cancer.

For sure. They are series hybrids which I would love to see in trucks. But, their economy is worse then present day gas motors. Check out the mileage on the Volt when it runs out of E power. It's no better then a gas car. So series has the advantage of eliminating the weight of the transmission......this is not a factor in a truck, it is in a train.

    I don't get your logic .

If you have 2 vehicles with the same size ICE but one has a hybrid component in addition to the ICE , there are only performance benefits , not loss

    Girly men indeed

Good pics....but Not fair....pink hybrids that cost a gazillion dollars driven by Amazon women with hairy pits and bad breath.

In a hybrid trucks, there would be worse mileage, lower tow rates and equal or higher costs ; when using present day technology of hybrid vs diesel. Compare the Colorado D and Hylander..

And, just saying something like, towing doesn't matter, does take it off the table.

    They're videos

In my example of two vehicles with the same size ICE , one with an additional hybrid capacity , and one without , how exactly do you suggest the tow rating and mileage would drop for the one with a hybrid capacity ?

PS , the Hino diesel / electric hybrid gets better fuel economy than the Hino diesel model

Your comparison ? It already exists in the Hybrid Highlander and the regular Highlander. Compare the sales ! The diesel is still the bench mark no matter how much you want to not make it. Cause Colorado now has one. People will buy the diesel before a hybrid for that much money when it performs that much better.

Would you spend $45 k for a Toyota Tacoma that only towed 3500 lbs and maxed out at 28 mpg, 4 mpg more then the 3.5 and less then the Colorado diesel, which is the bench mark ? Because, that is the only drive train that is available. No. Toyota never specializes in new exotic power trains for Tacoma's....So when they have one in a Land cruiser, and it tows 6500 lbs, gets 30 mpg ( cause it has to at least equal the Colorado) and costs 40 k , sure. Do you see one out their ? No.

Hey we got the Atkinson cycle to drive for the next ten yeas first. Wow.......

;-) The army is non profit and using your tax dollars to do it. Their objectives like rear mounting .50 cal is different from ours. The Navy has nuclear powered subs. Will we see one soon at the local Marina ? In my 10 years, I saw plenty of girly men in the service. We called them officers...;-)

It does for me. How many different ways can one say, Toyota does not make a Hybrid system that gives a truck what it needs for performance....:burnrubber:

    And the price is........
And remember, the Tacoma now gets car engines, not truck gear.

Back to the Hilux. I have been in a few in different countries. I liked them, but I do like the Tacomas better. I have a buddy that does a lot of hunting in Africa. He said they are all over the place there and he loved them, and the desiel got great gas mileage. He even tried to get one imported, then tried to get one imported as scrap. As some of us know, it's a no win situation

If you want to point out where I said a hybrid truck would be the same price as a regular truck I would appreciate it . I'll wait here .
