Hey guys, I'm sure there are hundreds of threads about this already but I couldn't find anything specific to my needs (sorry i'm new). I want to get a suspension lift for my 2015 Tacoma TRD Off Road 4X4 Double cab. I'm looking for something at 3" I do some moderate off-roading but nothing too crazy. Since it's my daily driver I want something that will be best for both on and off road. I don't want to have to modify anything like my gears or brake lines and try to keep the factory ride i guess. I will be upgrading my wheels and tires in the near future but nothing bigger than 33's. I've looked into getting the TRD Pro suspension since it is specific to tacoma's but I'd like to hear what you guys think. Anything helps! Thanks!:mudding:

    PS

if there is a thread that answers this, post the link so i can follow!

Do some research and decide how much you want to spend. There are a hundred threads about this, but the search engine in this forum sucks. Try google

well I don't have a specific budget but I don't want to break the bank. We'll say around the $1500 range +/- a couple hundred

    I'd go with OME.

You can do a full setup with SPC Light Racing UCAs for $1500 or so, install not included of course.

@HeadStrong Off-Road is the vendor to buy from, whatever you decide.

I like the bilstien 5100's and I hear alot of good things about OME but I honestly have no idea about any of this. It's my first truck and I've never gotten any kind of lift before.

5100s are good options if you are on a budget and don't want to be over 1.75" of lift.

Other than that, lift coils are the only way to go - you can still use 5100s as a shock, but with 0 preload.

My first lift was 5100s all around (stock coils) and Wheeler's Offroad 3 leaf progressive AAL - that was a nice setup for under $500.

My next lift was a full OME setup, minus UCAs (which I need). It's a night and day difference, wish I'd done that the first time.

There are nicer setups than OME, but not under your budget. The sky is the limit with suspension, $1500 gets a lot though, and is arguably the best bang for your buck.

What is your opinion on the TRD Pro suspension? Over-priced? Decent? My buddy has a tacoma T/X baja edition with that suspension and i love the way it rides. Not sure how high that one sits though. I've also looked into icon but that's a little too pricey for me. Toytec also had a good setup that i found online but my main concern is will i have to modify anything or can I just install one of these kits and i'm ready to go? (with an alignment of course)

Decent and overpriced. Most people who run that setup like it, but they also are almost always only buying it because it's a Toyota item and they're afraid of warranty repercussions by buying anything else. You overpay for that Toyota sticker.

@ToyTec Lifts has nice stuff, as well.

I'm just partial to OME (as are many). Great value.

Don't waste your money on the TRD Pro suspension. For that money you can do better. Really need to figure out what you want as far as a lift. Contact Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road when you are ready. I went with OME 887's on 5100's for 3 inches in the front and put an ICON 1.5 Progressive AAL in the back with ICON 2.0 Rear shocks, coupled with Camburg UCA's Ball Joint Type up front.

I'll probably be doing it myself (with help from some of my mechanic friends) I did look at that kit when I was researching a couple of days ago. I'll keep it in mind when I'm deciding on a final lift. thanks!

THIS option. Disregard the other comment, you DO want UCA to get alignment correct, especially of you are going with bigger than stock tires

You could have saved almost $100 on the UCAs through HeadStrong, and probably that much or more on the lift parts.

I bought full OME with Dakars, axle shims, CB drop and extended SS/Kevlar brake lines and I spent less, though I also didn't do the assembly.

Great setup though, I love my OME!
