ahhh, makes sense then. These should work fine on my stock alloys then.

I thought it was ok if it fits into the hole with some play before tightening. Does anyone know?

the guy from that site said he was told by his techs that some TRD wheels
do not seat very well with the way the TRD lug holes are shaped.

I'm guessing thats why it has some play. According to Jeff the oem black lugs fit but pricey. I found these colorlugs which cover the lug nuts in the color you want. Its like a sleeve that goes over the lug nut. Not sure how good they are.

Where are the covers? If they're cheap, it would give you a nice idea of how much you like it.

yeah, screw almost $6 bucks each for lug nuts.

Yep. Discount Tire told me they were 6 a piece, but since he was doing the whole project (tires and wheels) he did them for 3 bucks.

that's better. If I get them I'll just go with wheelersoffroad, I think it was 69 for
    all 24 including the shipping.

lol, don't think I haven't thought of that one. the first time you had to remove them
though you'd tear them all up, I'd just as soon get the black ones, seems the only
    issue is TRD wheels.

Watch out. You get what you pay for. They seem to be cheap stuff.

    Don't skimp.

Most TRD wheels use cone-seat lug nuts so the stock lug nuts will not work properly, the TRD Pro wheels use the stock shank-style with washer. These nuts will not have a super tight fit into the wheel hole, no. The washer is what actually applies clamping force to the wheel and they are hubcentric so are centered that way.

Thanks Jeff! That cleared things up. Looks like the gorilla lug nuts will work.

I am guessing this whole conversation would also apply to my 2014 Tacoma. I have chrome lugs on the Trd wheels and it looks dumb, I need black lugs but no one seems to know which ones I should get :(

Has anyone found the best solution for black lug nuts on the TRD Pro wheels yet? I asked Wheelers directly and they said that the Gorilla lugs (GOR 21138ETBC) have “fitment issues on the TRD wheels specifically”. I’m not about to pay $130+ for a set of genuine Toyota lugs (part 90942-01077).
In the mean time, will the stock lug nuts work on the TRD wheels until a solid solution is found?

I went with the chrome nuts and Discount Tire had just enough on hand. Their list was 6.00 apiece, and he gave them to me for 3.00 because they were doing the whole job. If you are replacing alloy wheels to the TRD's then whatever you have should work. I came from "styled Steel" wheels and needed all of them. They looked like the pictures above, but I can't tell you the details. If I had to guess, I would say they are like the pic on the right (black).

I've been looking for some black lugs for my TRD wheels and found Dorman has some black OE replacement lugs for $2.99 each @ Advance Auto Parts. Think I'll stop by this week and see if they are worth it.
