No craking. Took the hose off and it covered in sludge on the inside.

I plan on building a whole bed insert (Bolt in) that would house the battery in a compartment and would be vented but more weather resistant than under the hood.

    IMO, Yes.
Running a stock alternator is going to make it work harder which will kill it faster, just like having a bad battery will kill the alternator.

    Awesome, Good to know.

What's the best way to rig the alternator for dual batts?
Run it like stock and let the voltage automatically level out when the batteries are connected?

When you snap the throttle the quick change in vacuum pressure can cause a wave of air to move back and hit the throttle butterfly. It can then go back into the PCV line and blow into the crankcase causing problems. It has to do with wave harmonics.

Here is a pic of the inside. Looked at my service manual a bit and it's not listed as anything.

I had the valve covers off to replace the gasket and I didn't see any extra sluge there.

I'm going to clean it out and see if anything like that gets in there still. It was all pretty wet though like it was recent.

Here's a pic of my grill after I cut part of it out for the new 12" LED bar.
I used a piece of aluminum sheet metal 1/8" thick. After cutting out the grill mesh just big enough for the light bar, I got a cake box and cut up the back piece of card board to use for a template and transferred that to the metal and cut away.
I went to ACE hardware for the stainless steel bolts and nylon self locking nuts. I scrap sheet metal to make large area washers for the back side of the mesh so it would hold in place and not move around. I will have to take it back apart and repaint, some of the paint didn't stick to well.
The cutout in the lower bumper cover is for LED driving lights I am working on installing, just have to finish fabricating the brackets.

I already have the detector. Was wondering if there was a way to mount it to the mirror to get it off the windshield. I guess nobody has done it in our trucks though. I still haven't found anything
