Quick tips on running power around any settlement without a bunch of ugly wires all over the place? Is there a way to have all my generators in a corner but have enough line to power across the grid? Pylons?

Pylons and connectors are the way to do it. Your lines can only be so long per segment FYI

Look at Spectacle Island. Observe the power going from the wrecked tugboat genny up to the hilltop airstream trailer. You can use pylons, you can stick connectors on trees, etc etc. So, wire a bunch of small stuff in an area to a central connection, then look for a path to make a small/subtle connection back to the juice

Here's an example of how I set up Spectacle Island. I built a shack for generators on one hill, a large building for settlers on the other hill, and buildings for defense. I connected it all with pylons and conduits to bring power to the defenses and buildings.

Pylons taking power from the generator shack to the defenses and buildings.

Conduits on the building and on top of the building to bring power inside.

    Nice work!

You and I have a similar approach in many ways. Sadly, I'm at work until 6PM and can't screenshot anything til I get home

But I'll happily add mine own this evening :)

Does anyone know how many conduits you need per building to bring power? I find that a lot of the time when I put a connector on a building it doesn't get power until the connection is fairly close to the light or other object that needs power...

The connectors/conduits have a 'wireless range' of about 1.5 squares. Ish.

Exactly. They conduit needs to be within proximity of the light or other device you are trying to power.

Thank you. I don't think I'll make it to Spectacle Island anytime soon but I'm having fun at the Castle.

I just finished the Trinity Tower mission where you get a certain companion unlocked. I have to say fighting my way up the tower and looking out the window to see how high I was was awesome. Added cherry top that you don't take the same way down after you reach the top. I'm like 25 hours in and only got to Diamond City to look at the shops (trying to get enough money together for the Overseer's Guardian. So far the Trinity Tower mission has been my favorite.

Anyone running the Idiot Savant perk? I was playing late last night with my True Storms mod. There I am walking through a heavy storm and as soon as lightning struck the fucking sound effect from Idiot Savant popped up because I located a new location. Jumped in my seat.

And pylons have a greater range than conduit connectors.

When do your 980's come in? I'm going to swing by Newegg on the way home and either pick up a 960 or 970. Thinking Strix.

They're in and running beautifully. Not quite the Titan lol but I'm set for a long time I think. Massive cards though; I think the dimensions are bigger than a 970. It seemed that way anyways.

You live near Newegg's storefront? That's freaking cool. I don't have any experience with Strix. How are they?

I also have two 970's that I'm no longer using...

I'm putting it in at work and Strix has 0db (no fans) until it hits a certain load so for the 99% of the time when I'm working I won't hear them. It's still a toss between EVGA and ASUS though. Newegg is about 30 minutes from work and on my way home slightly.
We messaged back and forth a bit about the 970's but i'm ordering them through my work credit card. We need a few other things too.

I am. It triggered when I finished a quest during an extremely emotional conversation right after an NPC said something depressing. Ruined the entire scene. It was a riot.

Also, regarding your power question: You must construct additional pylons!

That's beautiful. Corporate card = some amazing purchases from time to time.

The 970's & 980's are MSI; I have never had a problem with them and I kept reading reviews of the EVGA cards conflicting with each other when in SLI.

The quietness of the Strix is attractive though. I'll look into them.

The only stores near me are Best Buy and Fry's. Microcenter is downtown and driving there is akin to walking through the wasteland. If I lived near Newegg I think I'd end up divorced.

Ahh, I did not know this. I've only had to use connectors on walls so far.

Thanks....I'll have to test this tonight and see what the ranges are now!
