I have no CB so if someone has an extra handheld that would be super awesome.
I'm still 100% stock and I am going. Lets see what it can do. Should be pretty low difficulty wheeling for the most part.

I sincerely appreciate the generous offer but it sounds like we will have enough gear on hand for what we are doing.

I have all the parts picked out, for the most part, but sadly my money tree doesn't sprout until spring sometime so I have to wait to spend significant moneys.

I can't say if it'll be worth the drive, but as far as equipment you'll be fine. Anything gnarly -ish we will evaluate before doing and there are go arounds. I believe most people are stock or close to stock, only two guys are full built. Most of this is gravel, some is really rough, but it's not difficult.

Sounds like there are plenty of spotters and help anyways. Maybe just ditch any pontoon side steps if you have them on...the breakover angle is pitiful and they are only tacked on to the body typically?

who here has CB's? Was curious. Would be something fun to play with and eventually getting out for more wheeling it would prove useful I would think.

Mark, I was thinking something like teh Cobra 75WST would be perfect for limited use.

    What are other thoughts?

Do you guys want to push the meet back a half hour or so, or is 1030 good? That puts you leaving at like 745 or so. Fuck that on a Sunday!

Cool. I remember Mark had one for sale a while back.

I would like to check yours out this weekend! (among many other things on your rig).

I had one in my X and have one in my 4R. Actually as a kid I always had a CB in my POS car, it was fun. I rarely use it anymore except on road trips or this sort of "wheeling" thing but it's nice to have and I like tinkering with stuff so installing them and playing around is fun for me. Plus you can be a total d-bag on there and hide behind a bullshit handle. Hey, just like here!

I bought a Cobra 75 to install in the 4R bit I didn't really like it, so I sold it. I ended up with what I pretty much have always had, a nice, cheap, ultra reliable Uniden 510XL. If you wanted to do just temporary installs for wheeling then a cig plug on it and a magnet antenna would be perfect and you'd have like $70 in the whole setup. Mine is a little nicer, I did a permanent concealed install and I have a better antenna, but I'm still only at around $150 in mine (and that includes an SWR meter to set up the antenna properly and so forth).

I had a German version of that Uniden in the same spot before until I burned it out!

I actually have a second setup exactly like what is pictured above that came off the X. I traded the X in, got the 4R, ordered all my shit for it, and the VERY NEXT DAY the salesman called and was like "hey, come get your CB, lights, invertor, before I put them on my personal Jeep... the new owner doesn't want any of them".

So the CB and antenna and all accessories are in my garage rafters - I woudl sell them but I'm waiting to see if we move to Cali, it would be nice to have a CB in my wife's car while we are driving out there.

SWR was screwed up and then I lost a good ground to my antenna
