So my spare is 19 years old... I am thinking about replacing it with a 235/85R16. Anyone done it? It is the same height as the rest of my tires, just narrower. I figure it would help with clearance and weigh less. Just concerned it may not fit. Haha

    Any thoughts?

Not a bad idea if you can find that tire easily. But I think the standard size will be easier to find. I wouldn't worry about the weight difference or clearance, it won't make a difference.

Can't imagine why it wouldn't. My spare is a 235/75R15 and it fit fine

    Soooo funny. Haha :)

Stock is a 265/70 which is 31" and I have 265/75 on all four corners which is 32"

I guess I should go measure. The narrow tire is 30 bucks cheaper too. Lol

I was at the tire place and a guy was arguing that he has a 4.2 in his blazer. 20 min conversation. I know nothing gm and know it is a 4.3. Lol

I wish I had the money to drop on the rear bumper...unless I get a good refund I would be out. How does your 4Runner like the mountains in CO with 35's?

Hates the mountains and elevation lol.. It's not so much the 35's as it is all the additional weight I have. I'm regeared to 4.88's so I can't imagine what it would be like with stock gears.

That is what is keeping me from 35's, especially since I live at 8K feet. I also have to climb mountains either way I go get out of town.
