I have had the opportunity to experience the truck in a few different conditions and one of my main concerns is the splash patterns when encountering puddles. I have the OR and I get that having the approach angle is an amazing benefit but is that the main reason that when I go through a puddle, it seams that an equal amount of water that gets thrown to the side also ends up getting shot forward and up over the truck which my wipers can not keep up with. It has gotten to the point that I have had to almost stop because of zero visibility condition due to the spray pattern.

This is my first truck, first tacoma, first ever kind of issue such as this. Does anyone else think this is an issue? How can I correct?

How fast are you going and how deep are these puddles?

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Deep puddles and speed make for poor visibility. Even if your tires don't stick out past the fenders, it will still happen.

Get a snorkel, you'll be prepared for the impending dust storm when your puddles dry up.

You could, just thinking out loud here, drive even faster through the puddles so you can hydroplane your way across. There would be minimal splash if you do it correctly.

Yea, drive slower. And it's normal. I used to do forestry work when I had my 2003, and this would happen to me all the time hitting puddles on dirt roads. I'd just throw the wipers on high for a few seconds. Rain-x helps a lot too if you really don't want to drive slower.

3rd gen forum section has the most amount of "no shit, you don't say" threads. Yes, I'm pointing out the obvious.

Slow down when you encounter a puddle.

You could also consider driving around the edge instead of through the middle.

    Amateur hour.

Try driving a small car on the interstate, 3" per hour downpour, getting passed by semis running in ruts.

THAT is getting sprayed down and loosing visibility.

I grew up in FL driving through hurricanes and daily storms that make rain events like this in CA seem like childs play. I am not talking about highway driving or high speeds, I am talking about city commuting with shoulder puddles that extend into the middle of the road. Speeds of 10-20 mph are enough to bury the truck in a wall of water. I will attempt to take a video if I must convince the world that I am not complaining because I have nothing else to do. I am sure it looks amazing to the world outside though, especially if it was a southern red clay mud puddle! It is what it is!

And you have not experienced hydroplaning until you are landing a plane at 100 knots on three wheels!

    Doesn't matter.

If water is splashing up onto the windshield, you're driving too fast.
