I put my 265/75/16 KO2's on 50 weeks ago and have put about 13,000 miles on them. They're quiet on the interstate, smooth, and they make my truck look great. I think I'm sold on BFG for life

Maybe I will just regear when I slap my locker in. I'm stock 3.73 now, but 4.10 may get me back to stock performance.

I have been following this thread and am too concerned about the added weight. I have actually been looking at the 235/85/16's. I think they will be lighter.

    Thoughts?

Rugged Terrains are junk, they have no siping. They loud, ride harsh, and are terrible in the wet, especially snow.

Siping is required for any great truly all terrain tire

Thank you for making me feel better about my mileage. I've got 235/85/16s on mine and carry about 450-500 all the time with a unaerodynamic shell on the back. I'm getting a smidge over 14 mpg as well. My highway speeds are usually 70-75 mph for reference.

As to tire weight and load range there is one KO2 tire that is available as both C and E - the 265/70/17C is 45.7 lbs and the 265/70/17E is 53.4 lbs. From that we can estimate a load C KO2 would be about 85% the weight of a load E. That would make a load C 265/75/16 come in around 45.6 lbs as well. The stock rugged fails are 38.5 lbs. So the fictional load C KO2 would split the difference between the load E KO2 and the rugged fails. Certainly an improvement over load E, but a beefy LT tire like the KO2 will still weigh a fair bit more than a P rated tire like the rugged fail.

The 265/75/16E KO2 are 53.6 lbs and the 235/85/16s are 49.1 lbs. So yes, lighter, but not as light as what a load C KO2 would be and no where near as light as the stock rugged fails. I'm running the 235/85/16 KO2 and like it a lot but my truck is dedicated off road and camping. Sorry I don't have any mileage comparison to stock as the KO2s went on the day I bought the truck and my giant shell and heavy load were on by the second tank of gas.

5100's all around with OME 884 at 0. Weathertechs, Carhartt seat covers. BFG KO2's 265/70/17. T4R SEMA wheels. 18% tint on front windows. General Springs HD 4 leaf pack, Leer 100 XR shell.

I have the 265/70/17 c loads and can feel it in the pedal. Coming from a P rated tire, the stiffness and feeling every little bump or crack and the loss of power is noticeable and a negative. Im running 36psi for the record.

Im playing with tire pressure and if I can get it to where running over a sheet of paper doesnt jar the truck Ill live with it. They look great and the noise doesnt bother me in the least. I doubt Id be able to live with these in the E load though.

Thanks for being so honest. These are the posts that are keeping me from putting them on my truck, it is just not worth it. I have pretty much come to except that these are just not made for our trucks. You are even running load range C, so many are running E's which is crazy to me. I have been praying for BFG to come out with some 265/70/16's or even 265/75/16's like I am running now in a C load range, I am starting to think it is just not worth it. I need to stop looking at these tires or I am going to lose my great ride and mpg's for the awesome look of these tires.

Well, to be fair I liked my truck bouncing like a Cadillac down the road. my minor suspension upgrades and the p rated cooper ATP tires gave the truck a very plush feel that a lot would not like either. It might have been to soft around corners or through whoops for some.

Depends on what you use the truck for and what kind of ride you find acceptable. Mine isn't a daily driver and is for off road camping with a minimum dry 500 lb payload in the back at all times. From my experiences with the older KO on a 1992 the tires are nearly bomb proof for my off road uses and the new KO2 even sturdier.

I was forced to drive the truck on a 40 mile one way commute on LA freeways two times a week for a couple of months and the ride was fine for me and truck (V6) had enough get up and go for me to be an obnoxious ass driving like everyone else in LA when "necessary". Camping trips involve 200-300 mile highway runs and I like the drive fine.

I actually run my 235/85/16 at 45 psi as that's about the right value based on comparing the load tables to the stock tires and also nearly matches the recommend pressure on the TRD Pros that use essentially the same tire. I know that probably seems really high, but look at the door sticker for a Pro... 6000 mile tread wear numbers show slightly more wear in the center so I may drop it a bit, time for a chalk test (once we get some dry pavement again here in CA).

BUT, get the right tire for the end use. If trying to keep MPGs and a particular ride with perhaps only a bit less off road durability there are probably tires that are a better compromise.

Don't ever buy something for what it looks like and expect it to also happen to meet your functional needs! Though I admit it is a slick looking tire...

The 2 stores in my area said they would apply the promotion to any tires in the local warehouse as well, just no special order stuff I guess.

With the weight of the tires being issues to some, the snow performance has been better than expected.
