Lol! You guys truly are inspiring.

How come paying $ to swap out the grille or wheels is socially acceptable but the hood is considered faux pas?

It's kinda the same thing as the guys that put $5000 worth of chrome and stainless steel trim on a semi. it don't make the freight rates any better, but if it makes you happy, and you have the cash and can afford it, go for it.
    it's your truck!
Saw the pun. I thought I'd Faux Pass...

If you like it and $1k won't make or break you I say go for it. It's your truck, and your money.

When I started this post, it wasn't to get permission from the members to do this. But rather to give the info I received for members who might be curious like I was.

It would be nice to be able to find stuff like this in auto recycling yards, but Tacos don't end up in one very often unless they get wrecked!
By the way, there IS a hood swap thread on here, but sometimes it takes a while to find a convenient match.
I had considered getting scoop hood from a dealer, but they ARE a bit pricey...ah well...

Does the scoop obscure your vision on the 2016 like it does on the second gens?

ya know, that's the GREAT part about owning your own vehicle, the ability to do whatever the heck you really want to do to it to make YOU happy! And that's the important part, right?

I purchased the Certifit hood for $87, (yes $87) and it fits great. Had a friend, that owns a custom car shop/body shop, prep and paint the hood. He commented to me that was impressed with the hood, reguardless of the cost. He said the cheaper hoods always have rippled metel, aren't reinforced underneath, and have uneven gaps when installed, but the Certi-fit hood had none of those flaws. The only difference I noticed was the metal is slightly thinner than oem. I've had it installed for over 4 years, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again!

I don't think it's socially acceptable to swap grill or wheels. No socially acceptable grills exist yet, and damnit, I like my OR wheels a lot. Now a couple inch lift.... That I can get behind.

I've developed extremely thick skin over the years. As a professional hunter, outdoor author, and videographer, I get a lot of hate mail. A LOT! Can't take things too personal. Especially when they try to sling mud from behind a keyboard.
