What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Hm, might be a belt or pulley....you could just keep driving it until it gets unbearable or until something breaks. That's probably what I would do, haha

 

Sounds like an idler pulley bearing is bad, my truck has a similar noise (but quieter) and it's the bottom idler pulley, they are very susceptible to water/mud but you can replace just the bearing.
Do a google search for 1st gen Tacoma idler pulley bearing replacement and it should pop up, I think it's on expedition portal or ttora, or ih8mud.

Rate my professor is a great tool, make sure the rating are for your class though, when I was in college in San Diego we had an English teacher that was very highly rated, but all the good ratings were for English 93 or something like that and we were in English 110, the teacher was very lenient on the easier classes but with English 110 and above she was very strict and had a bunch of issues with her operation.

 

My idle pully tends to wobble a lot, already changed the bearing out but I don't think that's the noise.

 

Hmm, sounds like the shaft that the bearing spins on may be worn out of spec then.
But how old is the belt and is it in good shape?

Good tip! Thanks! I didn't look at it too much for next semester's schedule. I was mainly trying to find classes with times I wanted rather than professors. I try to have my afternoons free every day. I'd rather start at 8AM and be finished by noon or 1 every day instead of sleeping late and having class into the evenings.

 

Belt is pretty new had it replaced when I replaced the knock sensors at 116K

 

Does it go away with increased RPM? What about with the AC on and off?

 

I believe so? Usually when I start accelerating I can't hear it due to engine noise. Btw I got a supercharger and I only replaced the one that connects to the supercharger belt.
