Was changing oil in my tacoma... Noticed the lower ball joint was missing 2 bolts!!! It's on an angle now.

Does anyone know the size of bolt that is used here?

I do not know the bolt size.
However, you SHOULD replace all 4 bolts as the 2 remaining in the picture have been stressed by the additional loads in the other 2 bolts absence.
Someone on here had the bolt sizes....

    Aww sheeeeeet.

IIRC, its an M10 bolt. Be sure to get some high end 10.9 grade bolts. AND LOTS OF RED LOCTITE!

you can buy the bolts straight from the dealer.

I inquired for a few awhile back and was able to get just the bolts.

Ok, from what i can find its an M10x30 flange bolt.

Looks to be a grade 10.9 stock (has 6 dash marks). Still, use with LOTS of Loctite.

    Its part #90080-10066

OK well now everythings funked. 3 of the bolts are actually snapped off flush in the spindle... One is good. I took the one good bolt out and everything fell apart. so now I'm wondering what to do. I may be able to get one of the snapped off bolts out but the other 2 closest to the wheel are not happening. Thinking I may just try to get 2 bolts on it and weld the ball joint to the spindle.

You northerners and your rust. :bored:

Try ATF and Acetone mixed together. Its the nuclear bomb of penetrants. After it soaks in overnight, use an impact on it.

Do not weld the ball joint to the spindle.

Use a bolt extractor to get the remnant studs out of the spindle. It may be easier to pull the spindle off the truck and put it on a table vice.

What is the condition of the other side. Replace all 4 bolts on the other side. Treat LBJs and their bolts as regular maintenance items. Do not wait for signs of failure.

Well guys I live at a lake and no parts stores close and I don't have an extractor. So I'm trying to source a knuckle. In the mean time I got one new bolt in it. Clamped it all around and welded the son of a whore together. all seems well so far. I think it's time for a new truck this bad boys got 407xxx on it stock tranny and motor!
I'm scared to even try to take the other sides bolts out I might be welding that side together to lol

If i was in your situation i would take advantage of the lower ball joint recall for 2000-2004 Tacomas and (if driveable) take it to Toyota and they can disassemble & reinstall those bolts when they change out your ball joints for free. This recall was in 05. call Toyota with you Vin# and they can tell you if it has been done by a previous owner of the truck.
