The Northeasters Run is April 28th to May 1st this year. It used to be on Easter weekend and then it changed to Victoria Day for us. But this year the park is busy with other events and racing. The park being busy means accommodations get tight.

Bad part of going to Rausch is you get spoiled. LOVE crawling rocks. The park has 4 trail ratings. Since I have that 14 hr commute both ways I stick to green mostly. But even the green trails have their challenge. Green is supposedly stock friendly. Ummmm....yeah you can say that but a set of sliders comes in pretty handy . Blue trail is a step up the ladder. Good plan to have sliders, lift/tires and even a bit of armour. Over the years a few greens have become blues due to erosion. Black trails are exactly what they sound like...Nasty big rock. Lift/tires and steel skids are the plan along with a winch or two in your trail group. There are Red trails too but those are buggy only stuff. Nasty big ass rock gardens. Fun to watch though. Some of the built rigs are pretty impressive. Think FJ40's running 37 and 40 inch tires. I think the brochure says "imminent damage"...lol

So what is the deal for the end of August in NB?

I am thinking of heading to Quebec later in the summer to wheel with a bunch from Montreal. Quite a few friends from the Northeaster site are from Montreal area and do a lot of wheeling around home up there. With the dollar sucking so bad I thought it might be time for a vacation in country.

Quick poll, what's the best tool for disconnecting the ball joint on the UCA?

If it's a snap ring like the stock bottom with no little eyes for snap wring plyers your best bet is screw drivers safety glasses a hammer and a rag.

Dunno if that's the best angle for the photo. Some people say to hammer it out, use a piece of wood to protect the threads. I love hammering, but that spot is a bit tight for swinging and I kind of think there must be a reason they make pullers....

    You want one of these!

    70b0d30cc01f8358d2883e02753998e9_9cf6fce2cabc93f807b1e68c7e003d3699c7998f.jpg

I have one at home.. but I'm at work for the next 7 and a half hours.

Yes the spindle is the vertical piece connecting the ball joints and holding the wheel bearing! If you're not trying to save the BJ you could use a fork and wedge it between the top of the spindle and the UCA. Don't be afraid to use heat and penetrating fluid.

The bfh. Big friendly hammer. Always the best tool for removing stuff from other stuff.

Disclaimer - I have no clue what I'm talking about.

If so, I'll go buy one. And if I do, anyone here should borrow it whenever.

I didn't see them on either website, but that doesn't mean they don't have them.

    Time to go shopping....

Yup. Spindle. Those puppies bend way too easily. My buddy Tom Fraypaul gussets them. He also sells through Dapurak Custom 4x4....But I think Joe (Dapurak) is only on social media

Tom does nice work but they are not cheap. Best deal is to buy a set and then send him your old (unbent) ones back for core. Once yours are bent it just gets expensive. Do you get the whole thing all welded from TC or just buy the gussets and have them put on new spindles?
