    1. Most of the major brands are made by the same company.
    2. They get expensive quickly.
    3. Installing them can be a bitch or not too bad. Just depends on the alarm, options, and the vehicle.

I guess I better start saving my pennies for one. God knows my daughter will want one when the time comes. I did see a big ass one at Costco?

not sure yet but most likely go with what Josh suggested which I think was getting the Icon 3 leaf pack on top of a set of new stock leafs. But honestly not sure because I don't want to lift anymore but I do want to stay level.

So I already have an older viper alarm. One way, autostart etc. The range sucks, and I'd like to know when I successfully started my truck. So I want to replace it with a newer 2 way. Not sure what model but I figure if I stay with viper it may be plug and play or atleast easier since there is already one in there. Any suggestions?

Most likely the harnesses will not be the same and you'll have to cut and re-wire anyways. Directed makes almost every alarm out there so it's all about what features you want and how much are you willing to spend. Viper is good, Clifford is good, Python is ok but they all still come from 1 company.

My dad built one for his grandkids. Over 100 hours and it was 'rushed'.

Any suggestions? I was thinking the viper 5801v I believe it's called. 2 way, remote start. No LCD screen bs on the remote

Progressive FTW!!! We've been using a Dillon for.. well shit.. since probably before I was born. lol

    that prerunner life yo

just lift it ya pussy :p  how ya doin buddy.

    :)

I still stick to that recommendation.. for you.. it would be perfect. find a set of new take off leafs.. add the Icon pack and leave the overload in.. done.

or.. replace the entire thing with a new leaf pack.. more expensive.. but definitely beefier.. will most likely give you rake as the smallest pack is 2" (the BOSS pack that I have, which I love btw).

Hit me up sometime. I am in between semesters at school and I'm giving online classes a go this semester coming up, so I should be fairly available to enjoy some beverages.

Not bad at all. My baby is two months old today already. Time goes way too fast.

It is rewarding to say the least. Not to mention she is a spitting image of her dad :)

It's all about options. Same core BIOS/Software on most of their remotes. I've never had issues with any Viper alarm I've owned in the past. I'd say you are solid with that alarm.

I'm still looking at the icon path for me. You know how I wheel so if you say that's what I need I'll run with it.

I think so as well. I don't want to get UCA's and lift more until my stock UCA's take a shit.
