On average what kind of milage are you getting before noticing the clutch giving out. I know everyone's results vary but trying to get some ideas and plan ahead. I have a 2015 supercharged tacoma and, though I wouldn't ordinarily be thinking of a clutch this early, I feel like the stock one is not made to hold up to this much torque.

I guess if no one had a clutch go out, and that's why nobody has responded then I have nothing to be worried about!

Stock clutches suck! Mine started slipping at 9,000 miles on my old 2013 supercharged 4x4. I replaced it with a Competition Clutch Stage 3. It was too much clutch. Stiff pedal and wouldn't completely disengage even with the clutch accumulator removed and all the play taken out of the pedal. Held up solid at the dragstrip though. 4wd launches.

How were you with the orginal clutch. Did you do many if any launches with it?

I have a 1st Gen Supercharged V6. The stock clutch lasted till 150K before the flywheel needed rehoned and a new clutch assembly. I put the S/C on at 85K miles.

I didn't abuse the stock clutch cause i knew it was weak. No launches. It started slipping going up a hill in 3rd gear full throttle.

That's not what I want to hear. Did you do it yourself or pay to have it done?

I brought it to the dealer cause I thought it would be covered under the powertrain warranty since it happened at such low mileage. They called me when they already dropped the trans and said I had to pay full boat. If I had to do it again I would go with a URD Stage 2 clutch. Probably the best disc and pressure plate for the 1GR.

Do you happen to remember how much it ran you? I've changed a couple front wheel drive clutches but never a 4wd, and I'm ashamed to admit I'm a bit intimidated.

Around $500. I woulda done it myself if I knew they were gonna charge me. Just make sure you have a good trans jack cause the trans/transfer case assembly can be quite awkward if you're just using a floor jack. I have a trans jack adapter that drops onto a regular floor jack that I got from NAPA.

Though it is 4wd which makes it a little more complicated than a rwd truck, it is a longitudinal mounted engine. It should be much easier than a fwd, car to change. You don't have to pull the engine, just slide the transmission/transfer case assembly back. 4wd just means an extra drive shaft to disconnect, 2 vs 1. On a fwd, you have 2 to disconnect as well.

Well I suppose when the time comes I'll do it myself then. I had an evo 8 that everyone swore the clutch would go by 30k miles, and it had almost 70k when I sold it. Hoping I can work the same miracle with the truck.

5k miles, pushing 300hp, my clutch slips like a mofo these days, once its nice and warmed up. Soon as its completely toast I'm dropping a URD Stage 3 into it. Gears 3-5 sometimes just slip nonstop until i let off the gas, that's when im punching it through the gears. Super fun to pop from 4-5 and suddenly rpms are sitting at 5k nonstop and wont drop down. Obviously im overthrottling a bit while punching it, but still.

I'm at 28k miles, S/C since 18k. My clutch slipped for the first time last night on the interstate. Up a slight incline going 70 in 6th gear, I punched it to keep up with an obnoxious Cummins trying to pass me, and it slipped. I haven't abused the clutch, but I have been rough on it since the S/C (kind of hard not to :D). Looks like this is to-be-expected, so maybe I'll look into a URD soon.

Well SOB!!!! My clutch is slipping now as well.... Around 5000 miles since SC install. I just noticed it the other day while driving on freeway going 65 mph in 5th gear. Punched it, and rpm shot up with no go!!! Sucks!!! I didn't think the stock clutch on the 6sp's had many issues with the extra power with SC install. I love my truck with the SC, but prob would have held off if I had known I would have to fork out another $1500 to upgrade the freaking clutch...... So, recommendations are throwing in a URD stage 2 or 3 in??

So it seems to me like the 6 speed 2nd gen guys that supercharge start slipping eventually. Sooner rather than later. If you use the power, that is. I'm sure there are SC'd 6 speed guys that are fine, but I'm betting they just use the power for towing or the occasional passing. So I picked up the truck with the URD Stage 3 clutch and Lightweight flywheel and URD Throwput bearing upgrade installed a few days ago. I must say its a huge change. Clutch engagement is pretty much instant, the "friction zone", if you will, is about 1/2" from nothing to full engagement, so it took some getting used to. I've been babying the clutch for the break in, still need at least another 400 miles on it before I go have some real fun. Punching it in any gear is fun still though. I can fele the difference in flywheels, the truck gets up and goes a bit faster. Zero slippage. I almost think a Stage 2 would have been better for more offroad slippage, but since I'm on road 95% of the time, this clutch is much better. Rated for 550hp or so, and I don't think ill ever go much over 400 to the wheels(hurry up and release UCON already).

Yep! I can say my truck has not been babied while the SC has been installed! Hell, it's almost impossible not to get on it. Thanks for the info.. Did you have dealer install clutch or private shop? And what was the total damage for install $$ ?

    Some of the things...
I made it 10k miles after install 25k on the truck. It slips enough that I'm looking for replacement options...

Dealer quoted me $750 for install, but I really refuse to take my truck to a dealer for shit these days, found a trans shop that agreed to $500 accidentally (they thought I was buying parts from them)
