I did the pinch mod without cutting my plastic wheel well. I used a heat gun heating the plastic while reforming it with the curves and wearing a leather welding glove. kept forming it while it cooled down slowly.

Hell! why didn't I think of this!? Ha but mine was actually rubbing not only on the actual pinch weld, but as well as the fender flare on the bottom. Cut that a lil bit. I have a damn heat gun too that I use to treat the faded flares. Now mud and shut gets through that flare cutout and inside the fender. Ha. Oh well..

Sorry I'm a little slow lol....I don't really get this? So how did you beat down the pinch weld without cutting the plastic out the way?

Take the plastic off by removing the clips and beat the metal down. Then put the plastic back on and and reform it to the new shape with a heat gun

Thanks @Scoobarooo. Is it that big a hassle to remove the plastic then? Wondering why everyone just cuts it out? I have not done this mode yet but I had been searching for different ideas like this so not to expose the metal in the wheel well to "weather". This seems to do the trick though.

Well, I did the mod 4 days ago and I didn't know about this. Sooo I have demolished my plastic wheel wells. But anyways, I would recommend this for sure. Even if it is a hassle to get the plastic off, once it's done it looks much better and you'll have that accomplishment.

So that first pic is the pinch weld and metal beet down and then sprayed with some paint or something over it? Also I found this thread a jeep guy did that looks like a good idea. http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/f202/how-pound-pinch-welds-stop-fender-rubbing-34295/

Yeah that's just the plastic liner moved out of the way. Second pic is the same with it back in place.

Wasn't me boss;) Looks like plasti dip though. But I wouldn't use that. Just a couple quick sprays of black spray paint should do it..

Yeah, definitely the last thing I would have used. Last a week with all them at gravel and dirt hitting the plastidip

Sorry to respond so late I wasn't getting the emails alerting me.
The first pic is the pinch weld i scuffed all the painted surface then I sprayed it with truck bed coating and let it dry. I then beat it over and sprayed it again.

I removed the plastic to get to the pinch weld.
It's well worth the time it takes to do this.

honestly you dont have to have that plastic inner fender liner, most people run without them for bigger tires.
