Sorry for the late reply... Forgot to add that I too am using Toyota parts.
The headaches you are dealing with, I too went through it.

Make life easy. Save a bit and SAS your rig. I did.

If you need part numbers, contacts or vendors I've used, PM me.

    Good luck

I have an extra 3.4 T-case if you want it... just cover shipping and it's yours.
    Parts are parts.

hossmaster is exactly right. I did the same thing, manual hubs and a electric 4wd tcase. The tcase works exactly like the elocker differentials. I used an elocker diagram. The wires may be different, I cant remember, it was like 8 years ago. I did a SAS and have a right hand drop J shift now so no electronics. I'd say keep it manual if you can, but electric isn't bad either. Basically there are two limit switches. The DPDT when flipped to 4wd gives it power to turn the motor one way, the motor turns a worm gear and changes position of the shift collar. When the limit switch for 4wd is hit, it cuts power from the motor and stops it in the 4wd position. When you flip the DPDT the other way it energizes the motor to turn in the opposite direction, turns until it hits the 2wd limit switch and cuts power in that direction. You can free spin a work gear when you apply torque from the ring gear so that's what keeps it in position.

If you can wire up a relay and understand how it works, you can wire up an electric tcase. Look at elocker diagrams, it is the same thing. I didn't wire up any indicating lights when I did it. You can hear the motor turn for a second and stop. It may have taken me 2 hours to do. I was kind of guessing it was the same as the elockers and I was right.
