Advice needed-- Last night I realized ANYONE can get 20% off at Autoanything for entering your email; one time use only. They carry ICON lift sets- that are also on sale. I can get am ICON stage 3 for $2115.80. Free Shipping.

Is this worth it? Thoughts? I can find very little detail/specs- even on ICON website; unfamiliar with their product. I don't want to have to buy more stuff later...

    Check The Build Thread
Here's been my experience with ordering an ICON Stage 4, but not from Autoanything...

ICON builds their coilovers with 650# springs so if you're in the "up to 250 pound" additional weight category up front, you're good to go with the 650s. I was planning on all aluminum and changed my mind last minute and decided to go with steel after my suspension was already ordered. If you want to have 700# springs, ICON only changes $100 extra for them; however, if you order the 700# springs after the coilovers are built with 650s, it's around $120 per spring plus you'll have to change them out yourself. If you are quick enough and have a vendor that will work with you on changing your order from 650's to 700's before it is shipped from ICON, changing the order is no issue on ICON's end. I know all this because I ended up having to order separate 700# springs but had talks with Scott at ICON.

It's not that the 650's won't work with 250+ weight, it's that you won't get all the lift available without preloading past their recommended setting. I went with 700's (ICONs recommendation based on weight and my desire to get as much lift without over setting preload) because I'll probably be over 300 pounds of additional weight with all the steel and I didn't want to have to preload too much (I went through all the crazy preloading with 650# springs on my WE suspension on the FJ).

Now onto the rear... If you know you'll be good to go with the AAL and 1.5" lift it provides, you're done. I spoke to Scott at ICON regarding the rear's as well and that I don't carry constant weight (shell, RTT, etc.) but that I do have a 16' Toy Hauler that is very tongue heavy when not loaded since the kitchen and bath are all in the front of the trailer. Scott said I can expect at least 20% loss of height with the additional weight. You can leave the factory overload spring in with the AAL to get the additional height but their AAL wasn't designed to run that way and your rear suspension could feel so much more plush with the AAL and overload removed.

I opted for the Dakar pack after lots of recommendations here in this thread. My worry with the Dakar pack and it's 2.75"+ lift was if the rear shocks would work. ICON will not tell you either way unless you can tell them how much travel is needed with the Dakar pack. I contacted Metal Tech 4x4, who I bought the lift through and who also sells the Dakar pack. MT told me that the rear ICON shocks would work no problem with the Dakar pack as ARB sells their standard length shocks in a kit with the Dakar pack; however, I can go to a longer shock later if I wanted.

My biggest advice would to be make sure you know exactly what you need before ordering. I could have been good with the Stage 4 as is, but decided to make a few changes after the fact just to make sure I'd be happy and not have to make changes later. The only change I can foresee later (as in when it's time for rebuild) would be to add the CDCV and go longer shocks (just because) in the rear.

    Hope this helps...
