If I remember correctly, the story they gave me was that the Tacoma isn't officially on the Costco discount program yet. They used the same invoice prices that can be found in the forums here and were willing to place the order for whatever build I want. Apparently 99% of the Tacomas they are getting in are customer orders. Ordering took 6 or 8 weeks to time of delivery. As far as the actual numbers, I don't recall specifically. I'm shite for trying to remember numbers. I'll try to dig up the paperwork again that has the figures on it.

That is what I found so I stopped using TrueCar especially after I read fightingchance.com. TrueCAr was great when it came out. They really gave us True Cost (manufacturers have since raised the "Invoice" price up to 10% closer to MSRP) and now we really don't know what money is on the back end or what the real invoice price is so all we have is "dealers invoice" which is everywhere anyway.

THAT is why I start at Invoice. I know because I was told by my Honda dealer thay can sell cars at today's Invoice prices all day lone and make money but they don't have to. People are still in the dark and pay close to ot at MSRP.....Some even pay the addendum

BTW it's the dealers who forced TrueCar to change the way they did business and it's FOR dealers now. They pay $300 for every sale made through TrueCar as does Costco and the even Consumer Reports who uses the TRUECAR website....and people PAY for their auto buying service......try that one on,,,

TRUECAR WORKS FOR DEALERS NOW.....All they do is recommend a price dealers already are happy with on standard fare and often does not include Dealer add ons. On popular fare they are meaningless.

Well she told me that price before I even told her what I wanted. I'm looking for a double cab, 4X4 auto with tech/prem/jbl...sounded to me as if it's $1100 over invoice for whatever you order or get from them.

When i was looking late 2014/ early 2015 they were offering $250 under invoice for the 2015 models. That's about when the new 2016 was announced and I decided to wait. This was in Phx, Az area

Edit: To clarify that would be with Costco Pricing through their 'partner' dealer in Tempe

Oh that's not much at all. Good to know. I found some forum posts from 2007 when the Costco Tacoma deal was $200-$300 over invoice at that time. I think I am going to bite on the $300 above invoice for a special order. They agreed to pick me up from the airport too!

I ordered everything but the JBL stereo. I don't think it matters what options you order, just take $3,000 off of MSRP and that is your price.

Even if the 3k off puts you below invoice? (It's putting me at like 650 below invoice)

I'm gonna have to call this guy up, hopefully the shipping to socal doesn't kill me.

Pondering? Jump all over that if they have what you want exactly. Also make sure their Doc Fees are included. Some dealers can charge up to $999 for "Doc Fees"

Ok I called him, he said he'll call back in a couple hours...

Any chance you know who the socal person is that ordered from him? Want to ask him about taxes + other fees he might have paid.

I am in the process. He is supposed to work up the final numbers and email them to me. We set up a price and its done. The $3k off msrp from the Ohio dealer makes me want a better deal, but like u said i wonder if there is fluff (unwanted addendums) in the MSRP. Oh btw. Its special order. Not in stock. He said 10-12 weeks. $500 Fully refundable deposit.

Went to Carlsbad Toyota and tried to get them to honor the Costco pricing and they wouldn't budge -- even though I've purchased 3 Lexus vehicles with Costco pricing from their adjacent sister property in the last 4 years! So instead of rewarding a good customer with a discounted price (or even price-matching!) they decided they would maximize profits for this vehicle. I'm sure they'll sell all the Tacomas they get at MSRP but this pricing frenzy won't last forever and they're alienating a local customer. In fact, my Lexus lease is up very soon and I'll be sure to let them know why I won't be buying another car from them going forward. Plus, after I get a Toyota I have out of their service bay, I will be going to different Lexus/Toyota dealerships for services going forward. What's that old saying; Penny-wise, pound-foolish?

I ordered a Tacoma with Costco pricing (Invoice + $1,100) from Escondido Toyota. I'll also be using them for my vehicle servicing from now on. It's an extra 15 miles out of my way but I like the way they do business so they've earned a new customer.

So here's the quote I got from Dean, so far, by far the best I've gotten, dealers down here in SoCal I've spoken to (maybe about 10) are not budging much off of MSRP (maybe 300 max); even with costco deal or true car deal.

    Here's his emai:

    Hello Julio,

Here is the Vehicle spec sheet on the incoming truck that we talked about. I can still modify the accessories on (Maybe add or drop a few things). But the way it sits,

    Selling price= $36413

    Dealer fees $382.5

CA Taxes at 7.5% (We only charge part of CA sales taxes here. You would have to pay the remainder .25-1.5% depending on county that you reside in, at the time of registration)= $2757.15

    Total out the door=$39552.65

With top tier Credit 1.99% with a $195 bank fee for up to 60 months.

    Thank you

    614-870-8200 ext.4816

After additional tax for SoCal and shipping from Ohio, I'll prob end up spending 41.5K....

Yea I think I'm gonna stick to my 2015 and wait.

I'll be ordering mine next week from Escondido also, even though I'll pass three dealerships on the way there from my house. They are the only ones in the county discounting them at all.

Btw, he said 3k off of msrp for whatever truck I get, so with the options I got that's what my price happened to be, but if I got no options (at least not the tech with jbl) I'd be looking at maybe invoice with taxes and all.

    Hope that helps.
