Well, got the snorkel installed last night. Whew....what a night. Hit my build thread for the story.

I had a lot of internal conflict with this install. My personal opinion is that this product is not of the quality/caliber to install on a nice truck. If you're not concerned with fit and finish then it's a acceptable budget opinion but I will not be recommending this solution to anyone. I will eventually source a new fender and the ARB Safari Snorkel for 05+ Tacomas.

I didn't have a problem not spending $600 for some plastic. Then again I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't want their truck looking like mine so what do I know

I do. As soon as I get the photos from my friend I'll post them up.

Edit: so I did some adjusting and permatexed around the snorkel to clean up the lines. I'm very happy with the way it turned out and feel much better about the external appearance of the kit now. Also, I can confirm a loss in power due to restricted airflow through the small oval section of pipe inside the fender. If I unhook the 3" pipe in the engine bay from the snorkel I gain my power back. Unsure how I will go about fixing this.

Haven't really seen it mentioned, is the stock tubing not reusable to connect snorkel to the airbox?

It will not be usable, you'll have to come up with a way to connect the snorkel to the engine. There are a few ways we've done it in this thread.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
It can and has been done.

You need to cut off the plastic inlet on the stock tube and still use a coupler to connect to the snorkel outlet tube.

This will require an extra (2) clamps, and you still need an extension coupler, and will cause more turbulence than a smooth tube. Plus, with the added clamps/couplers, you introduce 2 addtl. potential failure/leak points.

    Not really worth it IMO.

I went ahead and ordered the same parts everyone else did to avoid the headache. Thanks for the info though. I agree, not worth all the extra work to use the stock tubing.

This is awesome! I've been wanting to do this for a while now, but haven't had the option to fork out all the cash for a Safari! Thanks to Ben for the original instructions and to everyone else for posting their problems and solutions, should make this a lot easier! All the parts came in yesterday and I'll be installing tonight! Wish me luck!
