I'm not even watching the game however, given the shots for and against on my mobile, it looks like the Leafs have decided to play their old tricks instead of their new ones with the California teams. At least Optimus Reim appears to be back and playing in top form.

 

Quick should've had the SO but the dirty leafs are good at taking cheap shots (needed PP just to be in the game at all) while Kings get caught for retaliation one too many times.

Looks like this is on the Agenda at a special meeting before the end of January. There are rumors out there that the NHL wants to take a half billion off Quebec before another team runs into financial trouble and the city gets a better team at a 1/3 of the cost.

Cool link about the Drouin saga (there is a lot of reading) but the part that grabbed me:

 

I'm going to come right out and say Tampa Bay has significant organizational issues. They are pissing off their top players left and right. I get that they are very deep and that new, better, players have taken top roles but it seems like they can't even handle one minor personnel problem without a request for a trade. That's not normal. That also cannot keep happening.

 

Yzerman has a few years of cap hell in front of him. Hedmen will be PAID and the Johnson line will be up soon. I still can't believe Callahan is getting that cap right now as well. If Stamkos walks they have to look at firing Yzerman.

 

If someone said that at the beginning of last year they'd think your crazy... but it might have to happen. It wouldn't surprise me if Yzerman is a great talent matcher and finder but a poor people pleaser. That's how he was as a Captain if you believe those who played with him. He knew who could help and not help in situations but he didn't always communicate it nicely. Sadly, you need to do that now with todays athletes.

He's painted into a corner with Stamkos. He can't get anything of value in return for a player that can walk away from the team he's dealt to. Unless all he gets are conditional picks (condition being Stamkos resigns to the new team). He'll have to finish the season with TBL and either walk or extend. I heard on Leafs Lunch (maybe when LeBrun called in) that the Leafs think he would take a hometown discount to play there. I don't know if that's crazy or realistic seeing how most teams are up against the cap and the Canadian dollar isn't doing well. I think they mentioned if the Leafs took him at a "discounted cap hit" then there would be other hidden avenues of getting him money. Maybe through endorsements or Lamerillo's mob connections lol.
