I called the salvage yard in Az. where i bought my 69k mile 3.4 for my taco to see what they have available for the 4runner i just bought. They have a 99 3.4 with 116k miles for $700 +$270 shipping. I asked if he could help me out with the price because of the shipping, he said yea but i have to call back Monday. They knocked off $200 on the last motor for me, hopefully they can do the same for this one. I can't wait to start wrenching on it!

Lol no one said anything about being offended just wanted to clear up some misconceptions. I don't know what to call myself anymore honestly. I believe in God but not a single religion. But can't argue with how happy all the Mormons I know are...

I'm not opposed to an old truck. I'd love another resto project. Redid my sisters CJ5 for her. Had a blast doing it.

I saw it and immediately thought of you! Only thing is the ad doesn't mention mileage, but it's a Toyota.

Yup. I asked them about the mileage and when I can come look at it. Told them needs to be day time. I want to look over the chassis with great detail.

Yea i never look at vehicles at night. I know you already know this but i'll mention it anyway, take a small hammer with you and tap on the frame. They are known to rust from the inside out. I always take a rag and check fluid levels & condition. I always check the condition of the air filter too. And i always ask to see any maintenance records they may have. I also check that the little VIN stickers are on the hood and fenders and that they match the title and the VIN plate on the dash. If the little VIN stickers are gone or don't match then you know its been hit in the front.

I pick vehicles apart when it comes to a pre-purchase inspection! I've even been paid to go with people to look at vehicles for them before they made a purchase. It helps big time when negotiating a price.

:rain: So, it seems that my truck waited until it was cold and wet to start showing signs of abuse from the previous owner, current list is ujoints and carrier bearing on the rear driveshaft, headlight bulbs, and i got screwed on a $170 battery the other day. any reccomendations on bulb brands and ujoint brands? plan is to order everything from rock auto and knock it out over one of my "weekends"

Damn that sucks... Look into HIDs I've been running DDM Tuning in my last two trucks (3.5 years now) with no issues what so ever. You can pick up the standard for $60 and they have a lifetime warranty on them. Stay towards the middle of the spectrum 5k is suppose to be daylight color, 6k is clear white (what i had on the silver one look up my hid comparison thread) 8k has very slight hint of blue for a clean look, my current are 5500k and its damn near crystal white. But for the value they last a long time. I swapped from 8k to 6k after my accident (HIDs STILL WORKED) but they couldn't say for how long so my insurance covered the cost to replace them. I know a lot of people hate DDM but I've used them since my mazda6 back in 2011 and the Mazda had some issues with the ballast but DDM replaced it under warranty (came from china so I expected the 2 week shipping time to clear customs, carried the order invoice in my glove box in case I got stopped). At 60 you could buy two sets and IF you have issues with one unplug it plug in the spare and send the old one back to be a new spare. But like I said in my trucks I have had no issues. As for your other parts not a clue.
