Problems with VSC after lifting

I'm not mad, I thought these types of replies were a bit humorous at first, but it just gets old and wastes space on the Internet . I respect the opinions of just about anyone, until they prove to not deserve it. People are just too quick to share their opinions without having all of the facts. But in all fairness... This is the interweb, so carry on.

The first one just scared me a bit by not giving me any info and trying to bring in the big guns.

just kind of sucks not having stability control working with all of the snow and ice on the roads. Seems to drive okay though. MTS and Crawl Control aren't working either - I'm assuming it's all related though.

 

Shit, I would much prefer to drive in the snow with all that shit turned off.

I'd probably play it safe with speeds while cornering, other than that you should be okay.

Local to me member was going around a corner at slightly faster than normal speed and his VSC freaked out, put him squarely into the oncoming traffic lane and he had no control over it.

I have.. And if I didn't already have the kit (given to me), I probably would have waited. My plan is to add a front bumper and the correct shocks and springs to work with the extra weight. I'm hoping there will be a few bumper options by summer, as I won't be off-roading until then anyway. I actually already have an aal and rear OME shocks, just waiting on bumpers to figure out the front.

Thanks to all who are concerned for my truck's well being. I promise I will take good care of her and will have a proper lift by the time I take her off-road.

You may double check the fitment on the OME rear shocks.

I don't follow 2016 suspension threads, but somewhere mid 2015 model year Toyota started tossing in different lower shock mounts in the rear and they didn't work with OME shocks - without grinding away 1/8" or so of the mount to make clearance for the shock body.

I began researching this when I ordered my truck (October). From what I found, several people have installed these on 2016's with no issues and I have yet to find anyone reporting they don't fit 2016... So I take that as a solid maybe! Once I get everything worked out with the VSC, I'll do a test fit and report back.

And for those who posted that they don't get a temporary lift...

I already had it, waiting for bumper and maybe skids to get proper front coil overs - I'm waiting to see how much weight I'll be adding. Will be proper lift by summer.

Not your thing? Then simply don't do it. I chose to go ahead with it. It only cost me about 4 hours of time. Shouldn't hurt truck as long as I don't go crazy. It's a truck... If I break something, I'll fix it.

One last question...

Once I have the VSC recalibrated, do they still have to clear the fault codes or will this happen automatically with the calibration?

 

Follow the instructions for the 2nd gen and it should work.
