"I just double checked, my 2016 shipped without injectors, maybe Toyota did a mid-production update. My fuel mileage is excellent as a result, but I'm constantly late for things."

I got my new Tacoma V6 at the end of December. It was built in 11/15. So far I have put about 1000 miles on the truck with no problems. Runs great and gets good mileage (much better than my 2012 4.6 V8 Tundra). How do I know if my vehicle "shipped w/out injectors" as stated in the post by Metalnut. Hope I haven't f*** up buying the new 2016. I could have bought a 2015 but it wasn't equipped as I wanted.

Mine only had direct injectors on one bank and port injectors on the other bank. Would only make left hand turns. I had to have the missing ones installed

Are you able to pull out of your garage or driveway? Yes? Then you have injectors. Of course you can always mod the engine and remove them if you want to save on gas money, it's quite effective.

I chatted it's a Toyota tech who warned me a few weeks ago of "direct injection issue" with a 2016 Tacoma. Turned out to be a result of missing sealant which allowed water to drip on the ecu. Leak path sealed, new ecu, good to go. Was certainly a start of production issue.

Ford janitor told me to watch out. He heard that Toyota forgot to air up the spare tire on the 16. Said his uncles neice over at the Saab dealer has had quite a few come in

I took delivery of my SR5 DC 3.5 V6 on 12/15/15. It was mfg. 11/15. So far I have almost 1000 miles on the clock w/no problems. Starts easily, gets good (IMO) mileage (much better than my 2012 4.6L Tundra TRD). How do I know if mine shipped w/out injectors? Could have bought a new '15 but not the color/options I wanted. Hope I haven't f*** up!

As my 2nd post on this forum, I 3rd this, how do I know if my TRD Sport 4x4 didn't ship w/out injectors?? I'm freaking out right now guys, I don't know if docsg and Metalnut are for real, but please help me. I just spent $33k and I'm second guessing my purchase now that I'm seeing these seemingly educated posts from people with a higher post count than me.. Should I trade my Taco in now to someone with 0 or 1 Tacoworld posts who don't know about the injector issue!?!? PLS HELP!!!!!

Won't this happen in a few years regardless? Modern Toyota "rust through" feature the sales guys said. I bought based on this added value.

If your truck is able to start, run and drive it has injectors. That's how fuel is added to the engine to make the tiny explosions that occur thousands of times per minute, rotating the crank that in turn sends power through the transmission and out to the wheels. Yes, you have injectors. OP pulled a Chicken Little and is convinced the sky is falling because of his friend telling him about a truck that is getting warranty service, ergo all trucks bad. This is not the case of course so everyone else in the thread is having a little giggle about it. You came along, didn't really follow what was going on, don't understand internal combustion (nothing wrong with that) and subsequently freaked out with your first three posts to the forum. Solid first day. Welcome to TW.

Don't worry tho.. Your truck at least has a battery, right?

If you had no injectors your truck will switch engine cycles to run on battery power to get you where you need to go.

Oddly enough, the battery also runs on gasoline from the same fuel tank.

Not a big deal, got a good laugh over it. When I finally scrolled to your third post I just couldn't let it go any further. If you can't laugh at yourself, the internet will kick your ass. No jimmies got rustled.
