not much of a field of competitors. Seriously.. a Sprinter and Renegade are hardly worthy of calling 4x4's & neither are most of the others.

I find it interesting that they rank interior with the same weight as "4-wheeling attributes" like ground clearance and protection. It seems those off-road specific features should have more than 5% weight.

I do like that they limit the competition to vehicles with low range. Though, I believe the little Jeep Renegade just uses a super low gear set or some other trickery in the transmission to create a simulated low range. I guess the effect is the same.

Reading up on the new Titan...it gets 12 mpg. 12!!!

While The Sprinter won't be spry as the Tacoma offroad, damn cool vehicle. I would love to have one in addition to my Tacoma.

Car and Driver gave it a good review.

And will be worth $10k less than the Tacoma as soon as you sign the paperwork.

    True story.

And unlike some, I think the competition was pretty solid.

I traded in a paid off 2015 Colorado I had for 6 months. I gave just under 27K and got 22K for it as a trade in. My Tacoma I gave just a tad over 25K. I had to finance 4K. I'll never own another GM product in this lifetime.

Um...you win the Super Bowl, you win the Baja 1000. I'm pretty sure you buy the 4 Wheels and Off-road 4x4 of the Year Award. :D It's like a ad in a magazine. All that stuff is advertisements. Maybe a better analogy is like sponsoring a Stadium. I'm not picking on 3rd Gens really I'm not

All I'm saying is it isn't a real competition. If you want to believe JD powers and associates, car and driver, and 4 wheeler go ahead. It's all just to generate advertising dollars. It's not like the 2016 Tacoma just won a new military contract to replace the humvee.
Further more nothing with a nose as big as the new Tacoma could ever win a beauty prize :D:stirthepot:

Yup. I owned a 2005 Colorado. Bought it new, crew cab, loaded. Paid 28k, put 30k miles on it and traded it in for $12k after two years. Never again...
