So exactly what bilsteins does Toyota put in the Trd off road. Are they good as they are? I'm very new to off-reading but I liked the package for the locking diff and no hood scoop. Every Internet advertisement says they "come with Bilstein Shocks" but does anyone have like a model number

Thanks a lot. Now was this a gimmick by Toyota or are they pretty decent hardware?

Bilstein shocks are reputable. The 4600s are the lowest level of what they make for light trucks, from what I see.
Many people go with the 5100 for lift/leveling purposes.

    Gimmick?

They're just cheap shocks. No gimmick or mystery to it.

OEM Bilsteins have served me well on 3 other Tacomas that were used 95% for street driving. I got over 200K out of them with no issues and no change in ride quality.

It's 4600 series shocks, but the attachment hardware for Toyota Bilstein Tacoma shocks is different than from what you get directly from Bilstein. I found this out the hard way. I bought some fronts and rears to replace the Hitachis on my SR5 from facebook marketplace, because the Hitachis are genuinely hard shocks.
The shocks sent to me did not come with nuts, washers, or bushings. So, I called up Bilstein and they offered to send me some, and none of them fit (the threads of the stem nuts were incompatible with the OEM Toyota Bilstein shocks). So, I called up Bilstein and that is their explanation. They are Bilstein, but they are built to Toyota specifications.

I suspect you were lied to by the seller, with the exception of higher end Bilstien's, i've never had them not come ready to install and be made to mount up differently than stock. Unless it came with a lift kit or something
