Went outside to take the garbage out and heard a noise coming from the back of my truck. The fuel pump was running. Parked truck several hours prior and the keys were in the house with me. I started it to check the battery and shut it off and the pump is off now? I wonder if its just a glitch?

Pro tip: 5 hours after the engine is turned off it runs an EVAP test.

It's normal. And in the manual and on this forum.

You mean that's all? Been a quiet run lately. :notsure:

Bet it's been asked 1,498 times in the last couple of years, though!

    No big deal.

Manual has good info though and is likely the place to look when you hear unusual (to you) noises.

All that aside that's what the forum is for, glad to help assist.

It's great to sleep in the truck and hear that pump run, can scare the shit out of you when you don't expect it. Lol

It's part of the evap fuel pressure system leak test. Completely normal as stated.

YAWN. FYI...If you end up buying a newer model Toyota car, it will do the same thing.

Download the manual to your phone or tablet. Something to browse when you have downtime.
