Center Consol Storage box Lid won't open enough

My wife and I bought a new Limited and 3 days later took off on a 3,000 mile trip to see grand kids. WHile I was getting ready to go, I opened up the driver door and reached over and put some CDs and Medicines in the box. While we are driving I need to take a pill. I reach down with my right hand and open the box, ( under my right arm) The lid only opened up about 45 degrees and I could not, in any way, get things out while I was driving. I thought the lid was broken. I had to pull over, lean over and use my left had to try and get into the box. WIth my right hand, the lid blocked my arm from reaching around and getting into it. I thought it must have been a bad hinge so two weeks later when we got home, I went in and found out that is how most of them are. Do you have this same problem getting into yours. If the lid went straight up or maybe just a bit more, I wouldn't have a problem. I had a 2005 Tacoma and the lid opened toward the passenger seat, but this one opens up front to rear but not very far. If you have this too, have you found a way to make it open up more? I used to use it to keep all my change in, my RXs, CDs and things I wanted to get to easily while I was on the road. I am going to have to do something to get it to open up better but wanted to know if any of you had done it on yours yet? Please help me get it done.

 

Weird. Mine opens to the point that the lid is straight up, as in 90°.

 

i posted the same thing about 2 months ago. i think i can come up with a fix to make it go back further but requires removal of the lid and i can not figure out how to get it off.....this was the first thing i noticed since my 2008 TRD opened to the side. is a pain trying to reach in with the lid/elbow interference. find out how to remove the lid!!

Mine works as all of my other vehicles have in the past, 90 degrees, and perfect.

 

Mine goes 90 degrees as well. Did the dealer actually show you that the other trucks were the same way or did he just tell you?
