Just finished the eighth episode. The only thing I know for sure is there is a ridiculous amount of white trash in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.

A friend was telling me about this show Friday night over dinner. I'm gonna add it to the watch list, but as stated, I always take shows like this with the understanding that someone is editing with an agenda. It's entertainment.

The point is that Steven Avery didn't get a fair investigation/ trial, and neither did Brendan Dassey. No one is being held accountable for these fuck ups in the justice system. Its more than a little nauseating.

Happens to me almost every time I attempt a post. By the time I hit save/post and it actually works...I've done an express post/typing with speilnlg errors and some pretty screwed up stuff...frustrating to say the least.

Victim & prosecution sides are saying the serious is essentially being selectively edited to portray the perp in a "positive" light and LE/prosecutor in a negative light.

Haven't watched it...only read about it. Sounds interesting.

The series definitely takes the side of the accused, but the evidence of corruption is overwhelming, whether he killed the woman or not. Regardless, the guy definitely didn't get a fair trial.

I don't know anything about it other than I read an article about the series that claimed they are leaving out pieces of evidence in the documentary to steer the story for their favor....it's entertainment

Even with the evidence left out of the documentary (which I have read about as well), the investigation was done illegally by the county that falsely convicted him the first time, and the trial never proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he had committed the murder. I feel like the evidence suggesting that the police had tampered with evidence on the scene was never really addressed fully by the prosecution. I'm not saying there's enough evidence to prove either of the men innocent but they sure as hell deserve another investigation and trial.

Would be nice if the federal gov. would take another look after the White House responded to the "We The People" petition. I was appalled that the Wis. Representative was so quick to dismiss Steven Avery after he was arrested for the current case. You just fought to get a law passed in his name to prevent this then you toss the guy to the wolves, again.

I'm in no position to say guilty or not, but neither him nor his nephew were given a fair shot. His nephew has an IQ of 73 which falls in the "borderline retarded" level, how can you interview him and assume any statement he makes is 100% truthful? It would be like interviewing a 9 year old and expecting them to tell the full and honest truth without giving you what you want so they could leave. To add 3 charges to Steven Avery based on that apparent forced interview is beyond comprehension.

Definitely hoping for the best. My name is on both change.org petitions for them.

Im just finishing up episode 5. My biggest takeaway is the apparent low IQ of the average person in Wisconsin. :boink:

Though like it was said, shitty and obviously unethical police work, knowing the kid was retarded, knowingly interviewing without his attorney, and pushing him to say what the wanted. I dont like how cops can legally lie and deceive during interviews, but i know its perfectly legal and accepted.

My biggest fear is that this could happen to anyone if they got caught up in the system without the huge amount of money needed to get a good defense on par with the state's. All the way up there is a cooperation to maintain the solidarity of the system, to the point that its more important to make the police and state infallible than to get the real truth. Its happening in every high coverage police shooting, there is a attempt to cover up evidence or to just ignore what happens until video or something else comes to light. Im sure there are thousands of people locked up because the police and DA cared more about an agenda then giving equal justice.

I agree its harder for genuinely good police that do cary their power with an even hand. Though i think the hardest conflict comes from the pressure from other cops and the system to keep quiet when injustice happens.

Definitely crazy shit is going on, whether he's guilty or not, I don't know how I feel about it but if he isn't so much more crazy shit must be going on then what we see! We binge watched it and I got a few others hooked on it. The evidence seems planted to me for sure! Crazy how shady and untrustworthy humans can be,just sad. Wtf is wrong with people???

The use of DNA evidence is such bullshit for investigative purposes. It can be as easily manipulated as a polygraph or eyewitness testimony. Whats the worst is the way it can be moved from one place to another then all of a sudden its used as proof that the person was there.

It's scary that if a couple people in the force didn't like you they can ruin your life worth no problem.
I'm not decided on if he was guilty or not but there was a lot of things done completely wrong and he had no chance to win if he was innocent. Everyone knew what they wanted to happen.
