new member: I am 65 years young, from Nova Scotia Canada and spend my winters in Florida from Nov.to May. New to tacomaworld but not to toyota, I presently own a 2012 camry exl v6, 2003 mr2 spyder, 2002 tacoma 4x4 v6, 1998 tacoma 2wd 4cyl. I am currently thinking of maybe selling the older tacomas and buying the 2016 tacoma. any suggestions to get the best deal? Would have to buy in Canada because of the low Canadian dollar

The internet is your friend. For buying my last 3 Toyotas in the SouthEast, I was able to view all inventory in the region including the last 4 digits of the VIN's. I was thus able to find exactly what I wanted each time (2007 Solara, 2012 Black 4x4 SR5 4-Runner, 2016 Mag Gray 4x4 Limited Tacoma) without the stupid margin boosting dealer options (paint protection, floor mats, etc.)) I then emailed several dealers asking for pricing on an "in-stock" truck spec'd the same. For the Tacoma, two dealerships responded with their internet pricing on the vehicle I'd already found on-line; one had added $500 transfer fee, the other hadn't because it was in their stock. The next day, I went to the dealer that had the truck, never told them about my research or emails and negotiated a price $500 under their internet price.

I'm pretty sure that I didn't get the best deal but it was relatively quick and hassle free. The internet guy emailed me afterwards about his disappointment that he wasn't cut into the deal and I explained that a floor salesman had undercut him so he simply should have been lower with his internet price.
