i changed my oil two days ago. Let the old oil out, replaced the filter, put the new oil in. I spilt some oil as I was pouring it in. Not a ton, but enough to make a little mess. Now for two days I have smoke pouring out of my tailpipe. The smoke looks white to me, which I've read means water and possible head gasket issues. But that wouldn't make sense to me since I just spilt some oil on the engine. I know if it's blue, it would mean it's burning off the spilt oil right?
I sprayed the engine with degreaser and washed it off, but smoke is still pouring out.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Take off your radiator cap, start it up and watch for bubbles in the filler neck. Bubbles indicate a leak somewhere in the cooling system, either cracked head, block, or bad head gasket. PS: DON'T remove the cap when hot!

Another idea I had is input too much oil in. Despite calling for 5.2 quarts. I put 5 in. The dip stick however is reading high...could it be too much oil?

Is it milky? Then you blew the head gasket I'll wager.

Not with white smoke. Oil smoke is grey.

If dip stick shows over filled but you put in the proper amount of oil in after fully draining it then that indictates water is entering the crankcase. White smoke from the tailpipe indicates water is entering the combustion chambers. Both of these could indicate blown headgasket.

Had similar situation with my 22RE in 84' yota. Turned out to be the timing chain ate thru the timing chain cover into the water passage way for the waterpump. Changed the head gasket at the same time since I was already there. No more problem.

EDIT: My oil was milky and over filled.

You could pull a quick check by draining the oil again, because oil floats, you will see water/antifreeze first after removing the drain bolt.
