Thats prob true, but one perk of special ordering it is they dont drill hols in the front bumper for the front license plate. At least in my state.

SC is 37% African American. That is a huge mostly poor demographic (poor here means having some property and a single wide) And a huge white population also poor. So the state cannot raise taxes across the board without hurting a lot of people. So they pick their spots. $300 sales tax cap on any vehicle turns into a property tax every year on that vehicle. So if one buys a Bentley, they will pay more in property tax every year than someone driving a Tacoma.

For those who move here with money or skills, it's easy beach livin. SC gets a lot of Federal Money as well to take care of the poor. The State is drawing some industry like Boeing, Tire companies, Gun manufacturers and BMW. Because of low non union labor rates, Boeing pays $25 and hour here. Less than in Washington but one can live quite a bit better here on $25 an hour than in Seattle or Tacoma. Why shouldn't they move here. People can live a nice middle class life on $50K a year and do.

I looked at one thing when moving and choosing where to live. Local cost of living. Cost of living is everything. How far will my dollars go? Its all about quality of life. Not how much one makes. If a $15 min wage ever hit SC people would be very happy. A working couple could live VERY well.

If fuel, and housing is cheap, one does not need a $80,000 a year job. So retirement pensions go waaaaay farther here then in California or the NE. I live in a home on an acre of property with a huge pond and wooded back here four miles from the beach. That would cost a million or more in Southern California that near the beach or on any water. I paid $171K and had it custom built. The land was $32k

Florida is nearly the same No Income taxes. Lower cost housing than NJ NY CT and the rest of the metropolis' I have more property and a larger home than I had out west for 1/4 the price. Property taxes are $673 a year, Thats couch change. We have clean free beaches. No traffic of consequence. 30 min DMV visits.

Pay scales are lower. I find it incredible to believe people in NJ especially view $1000 a month property tax as "normal" and $6000 a year cheap!! They are renting their owned and/or mortgaged land from the state? So teachers can make $100K a year? and retire on half and move south. A lot of Federal money comes into this state for retired Military, State, and Federal pensions as well as active Military,

Southern States get more Fed money than they pay in. Their representatives certainly know how to bring home the bacon.

I will tell you this Few to NO ONE retires in the south and moves to the NE or California.

I bought mine from Autonation South Austin. Super easy to work with and are definitely willing to negotiate to win your business. That's what's nice about volume dealers, they just wanna move units.

i was in the same situation, most salesmen full of crap....they tell you they will do it for a price and dont follow up....your truck a unicorn indeed, i was told several times there were no 4x4 trd in a 5 state area....I ened up ordering from rockwall toyo, Robert castle....i inquired on a truck on their site and he responded with the best price i had seen anywhere, the truck wasnt exactly what i wanted so i ordered.....spent about 30 min at dealer building my truck, 500 over invoice.......sr5 dcsb4x4 toneau tow 31800. tell him Scott sent you, maybe i can get a free oil change

Driving back to NC to visit my daughter this summer. I'll see what kind of deal I can get on a truck back there. Tired of all the dealers in NV and Norcal. Can't understand why all these guys are willing to pay any price for this truck.

Ordered a 4X4 Access Cab SR5 for $28900 minus 10K in trade for my 2006 Tacoma Access Cab w/139k mileage. Final OTD around 19K. What do you think? All stock, no bells, no whistles. Thinking I should have splurged for the Premium JBL system. But not for $685. What is list for the Premium JBL ? Oh yeah...in MA.

Just picked up a TRD Off Road, DCSB, Black, Tech Package, Carpet Mats, Tonneau $34,891 + tax and tag.

And that was on a truck that was not yet delivered. If you're are in or near Charlotte, NC I'd recommend Checking out Town and Country Toyota. Picked it up too late for real pics. I'd be happy to hook you up with the guy I worked with (recommended from another member here).

Full disclosure. . . there's a marketing incentive at this dealer. If you tell them I sent you or another member here, there is a payout of $100. That's not why I posted, didn't want it to appear it was.

It was the lowest pressure car purchase I've ever experienced though. I spent a total of 1 hour, including test drive, and was done with all the paperwork, etc.
