Hello fellow Tacoma World people! It is time for a real off road and camping Adventure. Hungry Valley getting a little played out? This is your chance to join in on something new and different. I am setting this trip up for the last weekend of February 2016. camping Saturday night and Sunday night, returning Monday.

I assume it will be pretty cold, so be prepared guys and gals.

Also, AB is the only national park in CA that you can still free camp (in designature areas). There are reserved camp locations too. Which have shitters and showers. Reserve America website should have what's available.

#1 rule is leave no trace.

#2 you have to bring a fire pit in. You CANNOT dig a pit. We took an old stainless steel washer drum. From the size of this group you may need 2. I bought a mix of Pine and Eucalyptus from South Bay Firewood on Rosecrans in Hawthorne. Bring a shit load 3/4 of my short bed was just wood.

Hey @2015TRD4X4 add @james Daniel as going! I think you missed his post a page back...

 

Had a very fun and eventful day yesterday. Started off going to Cleghorn Ridge, plenty of small mud puddles throughout and sloshy snow as we got higher up. My friends and I stopped right after a mud puddle I left a minute ahead of them, 20 minutes later I get a call from them saying they're stuck....
Thankfully by the time I get back to them there's a 4Runner ready to pull them out, glad I brought my strap! After several attempts the Ford is finally out!
But the Ford didn't have any traction, so to avoid getting stuck again my friend put his snow chains on, and all of us plus a person waiting behind us were jumping in the bed to get him traction and he was finally able to get to the top and turn around, victory!
Decided to kill time and take a model photo of my big guy

After that escapade we went to Holy Jim in the search of some mud for the Ford, unfortunately all the big mud puddles were gone so we ended up enjoying the peacefulness of the forest at night and had a fun time. Oh and I got a souvenier from Holy Jim last night or on Thursday, a nail to the front left

All in all pretty fun day!

I sold my CRF250R recently but in the market for a KTM 350 or 6 days before the trip. Now all I need to figure out is how to borrow/rent a trailer for the taco and bike

Not sure what driveway she was referring to unless she calls the street I was parked on a driveway. For now, I'll enjoy this VIP parking on the hill I live on. I thought about flexing just for shits 'n giggles, but I don't want to develop an asshat reputation with the neighbors.

To you guys, and anyone else considering going to KOTH, I would be down to go if others from here were going.

 

LA people are the worst when it comes to parking. People get really territorial. I've had a situation before where I parked my car in an empty space on a residential street (no permit required), got out, locked my car and just as I'm walking away some douche comes out of her house in pajamas and tells me to move my car because she was going to park there.


Bottom line is: if it's a public street and you're obeying all applicable laws (permit, street cleaning, etc.) and not blocking someone's driveway, it's legal for you to park there. But people be crazy sometimes and beware of vandalism- so there's that...

I will add this: from the looks of it, there seems to be construction going on behind your truck. Be careful with that because you can get cited for parking in an undesignated space. I had the same situation at my parents house many years ago. Some developers were building new homes along one side of the street and they carved out the hillside to do so. The empty lots remained that way for almost 2 years during which time construction had stopped due to legal/money reasons on the developer's side. Since I had a truck, I took to parking in the dirt lot (as were other neighbors). I eventually got a warning ticket from LA City because since I was hopping the curb to park there, it was not considered a parking space or driveway. Whatever... Just be careful man. It would definitely suck to come out and find something happened to your badass truck during the night.
