At those prices ($700 - $1,000) the kits should include a person to get out of the car and guide the driver while he backs up.

skeezix... I install them quite often. don't know what your looking at but they have a basic mirror with auto dimming for a 3rd of that. also, he said he wanted "something really nice"... his words not mine. just gave him an option of what he was looking for..haha

Amkaos... The nice ones do. That's what you said you wanted. Then you are interested in the $12-30 stuff. What do you want? You say you want "really nice" but you are rounding up $42 mirror and camera. Really???... "Real nice" doesn't clip on to mirror... Haha

Just get a brand motion mirror. EASY!!! Done and done!!! Great products all around. You can get a basic mirror, one with auto dimming and even a compass and temp. You get what you pay for. Good luck

Works pretty well. Mirror power is fed from add-a-fuse from the cabin fuse panel. Camera power is fed from the reverse light. When I shift into Reverse the power activates the feed from the camera which then turns on the screen. Very rarely the display remains blank. It's by far the cleanest set up and the safest (I can't understand the common sense in looking at your stereo to look at the cam) set up I could cobble together.

    And it's cheap.

Not really. It's black so it doesn't match the first gen taco interior but I've surprised plenty of people when the screen goes on and they realize that a 2003 taco has such a modern amenity. I guess that means they don't suspect the mirror is aftermarket.

Removal of stock mirror was easy in the first gen. Maybe 5 minutes. No real sweat.

One note, the base for the mirror includes a pre-trimmed 3m adhesive tape that didn;t hold well once the sun started hitting the windshield during the summer. I ended up removing the base, filling the cavity in the base with moldable putty epoxy to create more surface area for adhesive and then epoxying the base to the glass. wasn't too bad. Overall very happy.

No. So unnoticeable that I forgot the mirror was mounted from the map light assembly. I'll take a picture tonight.

Theres tons of super cheap options out there.

Only product I could not find, was a dash cam that would record both front and rear cameras.
So you're basically talking about two separate products: backup camera, and front dash-cam.

I basically have this same kit:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-TFT-LCD-C...ash=item3ab3d0052c:g:6q0AAOSwcwhVLyQQ&vxp=mtr

Mine came with the option to go wireless or run the RCA all the way from the rear up to the front where the monitor is.

I chose to use the wireless antennas which are pretty garbage, but occasionally work really well (for a few seconds). I also wired mine into the tail light instead of the reverse light so i could view the picture at any time just by having the headlights on and the monitor switch on. To do this, make sure your monitor has an on/off switch. My monitor has two channels if i wanted to add another camera.

In terms of dash cams, I have this:
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...62,searchweb201560_2,searchweb1451318400_6151

I paid like 33 bucks for mine over a year ago and its fantastic. I do see some dual lens types now available! The 12v socket plug is garbage, as is the battery in it, but i just wired it directly into the underdash 12v cig wiring. It is 5V so i retained the plug circuitry (drops the 12v to 5V). excellent video quality and has never failed me! takes SD cards.
