    When: Jan 9th 2010
    Tentative start time 0930

    Where: Malaquite Visitor Center
    Padre Island National Seashore

All the info how to get there and rules for camping are here. Some people plan to camp and some dont so take your pick.
    http://www.nps.gov/pais/index.htm

This is going to be a fun run to drive the entire 60 miles down to the channel and 60 miles back all on the beach

    What you need:
Extra gas in gas cans (Im bringing two 5 gallon gas cans)
    Tow strap
    Full sized spare

Pre-runners or 4x4s. Everyone is welcome.

We will make sure that everyone gets down there safely and gets back safely. Safety in numbers.

Remember to drive within your limits as well as your truck's limits. It wont be fun to spend all day Sat dragging a broken truck off the beach.

Speed limit is 25mph or so and Park Rangers will stop us if we get out of line so lets not be those guys.

    Who is going:

Bold means that people have confirmed as of 1-5-2010

I went there earlier this year and the sand there along the side of the road looks packed but it's really LOOSE I got stuck and had a silverado pull me out so definatly bring a tow strap.

I've got some pics and will post them when I get on the computer.

I can tell you that the conditions vary greatly. From super loose sand to parking lot smooth or hard as a rock and rutted like a mother.

If anyone wants to hitch a ride and contribute to gas, I have more than enough room for people that live around the houston/galveston/sugarland area.

Here's some pics of the driving conditions. All encountered in the same trip last February, heading up the beach on our way out.

^^ Ok cool! I was hoping you were still going to post pics. Drew, Are you bringing you wife this time too? I'm trying to get my gf to go but she doesn't want to be the only female on this trip.
