    Just east of crazy, NV
    Vehicle:
    2014 SR5 DCLB 4x4
Color matched door handles, Weathertech floor liners, bed mat, Durafit seat covers, tailgate clamp, 2016 TRD Sport 17" wheels with Yokohama Geolander AT tires , Toyota exhaust tip, Toyota/Yakima bike rail mount, Toyota wheel locks, Toyota hitch cover, Redline hood struts, unifilter on air pump.
It definitely aims at a different customer that the typical truck buyer, and that's ok imo.

BTW who called the tight gap on the box. No, that is not the same sort of gap as on a Tacoma or F150. It's a small gap to allow flex but, odds are and we will see later, the two are still connected for structural integrity.

Looks like Honda is giving the mid-size market what it needs. A light duty truck that gets decent fuel economy. Hopefully the pricing is right.

I have been wanting a little truck that gets high 20's mpg, but I don't want to pay $40K or have to deal with diesel to get that high 20's mpgs.

Looks like Honda just took their competitive SUV and chopped the roof off the back. Literally that's what it is. If you would of bought the Pilot sans roof on the back, then this is the truck for you. Expect the same Pilot pricing. That's how the Ridgeline worked last time as well.

It was me too. I even argued it a few times. Someone on here SWORE that some dude they knew was SO IN THE KNOW and the gap was ABSOLUTELY as wide as the gap on an F150...

Yeah... it's not. It's just there to prevent the panels from buckling when loaded. Structurally the truck will still have a connection in the middle other than just subframe.

Like Ive stated before, we have had 2 Pilots (11, and currently 13) and absolutely love them! I wouldnt mind this truck one bit if it truly takes after the current pilot.

Looks like an AWD LX is $32K...that is doable. If it truly gets 27 mpg...that would be perfect, since 13,000 miles of my driving is spent at 65 mph back and forth on the highway.

Dude, it won't just take after the Pilot like the Yukon takes after the Sierra... it will literally have the seats, engine, knobs, front plastic... basically everything off the Pilot.

This isn't a secret but Honda didn't want to waste a ton of money revamping the Ridgeline because sales will likely trend the way they did last time. So they cut cost by simply chopping the back roof off the Pilot. It works because, like you said, most people who would look at the Ridgeline would like the Pilot. If you like the 2016 Pilot and want a box you don't even need to test drive the new Ridgeline. It will be exactly the same.

Tacoma (or Toyota pickup) started as chopped 4runner. Those were the best days of Toyota...

I'll likely end up buying one, once the kids come. Tough to debate the user friendly ergonomics of the Ridgeline compared to a Tacoma 4 door, Ridgeline wins. Dependability and reviews will dictate it though. The previous generation ridgelines/pilots were hit or miss with issues.

    I don't offroad.
    I don't tow heavy objects.

The 2016 Pilot reports 22 mpg overall on fuelly. Expect a 1 mpg drop for the truck box aerodynamics. So 21 mpg should be the average overall mileage.

Except those were BOF vehicles. Much like GM or Ford with their pickups/SUV's in the full sized category. If you look at the modern equivalents those companies actually change 90% of the interior and exteriors to better fit the vehicle but leave the frame the same. This Ridgeline will likely change dick all. That's a difference to me. Not that it really matters but don't expect any ground shaking differences between the Pilot and Ridgeline.

    Thanks.

I see a few breaking the 25 mark. I schedule my day so I don't have to sit in traffic, 98% of the commute is 65 with the cruise on, actually more like set at 63, seems to be the speed where I don't have to touch the brakes or throttle.

Being the same is big plus in my mind...
    1. Buy cheapest, basic version of Ridgeline
    2. Swap what you need from junkyard Pilot.
    3. End up with car you need/want instead of overpriced, over packaged and over accessorized street queen.

I would be happy with the LX.

Kinda disappointed in Tacoma that I can't get a ACLB V6 MT in the SR utility package.

The more I look at this Ridgeline the more it looks good. I like that there is actually gap between the cab and bed now. So that means it's no longer unibody?
