This looks really familiar. Did you post this earlier? Or did you buy it and selling it already?

If I still lived in Cali, and had the cash, I'd be all over this thing. It should go fast. GLWS.

Absolutely exactly the Tacoma I've been looking for. White, 01-04, V6, 4x4, TRD, 5spd, lack of rust, miles. Best of luck with sale

I've had 4 people here on TW refuse to sell me their truck because I couldn't put cash in their hand physically. They will not take a bank to bank wire transfer, which is the safest way for both parties. It by the way is CASH when you go to your bank to retrieve it & I can only put money in ones account & not take it out. I'm in Florida & having to look out of state as I can not find the truck I want locally & hence the wire transfer.
Imagine selling your $500k muscle car or 911R, would you expect an individual to turn up with $500k cash ? All pricey transactions are handled by bank to bank wire transfers ! Sometimes a cashiers check is written but NEVER cash in hand. lol
By the way, no disrespect to the ones that kicked me to the curb as it is your truck & you can set the terms as you like BUT it is very frustrating dealing with unnecessary & misinformed paranoia.
Saying all that, would someone here on TW sell me their clean & unmolested truck & not expect cash in hand ?

Just want to offer my .02 as a former seller of 1st Gen that I listed here on TW. When a buyer contacts me VIA a PM and has a low amount of post and a their join date is only few days or a week old then I get a little hesitant. If you have ever sold a vehicle online you get bombarded by scammers trying to help you sell your truck for a fee and the countless lowball offers. If I had a dollar for every time I got the "Would You Take $4000" offer I wouldn't need to buy Powerball tickets. When you contacted me about my truck you didn't leave a full name, email, of even a phone number. Then you stated that you lived in Florida and couldnt find a clean 1st gen in your area. Well I checked both Ebay and Craigslist in Florida and found a few trucks that were in your area. So I thought why would you pay to have my truck shipped all the way across the US when you can find a better deal closer to you on the east coast. That raised a few red flags for me. I don't mean to disrespect anyone here. I just want to give you my viewpoint as a seller.

And again, I cant believe this truck is still up for sale. It looks like it just came off the factory floor.

What a beautiful, pristine truck! If I had the money, and weren't all the way across the country, I'd jump on this truck. Good luck with sale!

Here's my .02 & please understand that I mean no disrespect either. First off I disagree with what you found on evilbay, CL, etc as they obviously either didn't meet my standards and or I contacted the individuals & after getting more detail, they then henceforth did not meet my standards & that may have been due to color, lack of service history, auto gearbox, non TRD, too rough or a previous accident. Some of us are implicitly anal about some stuff & others wouldn't give a toss about the same issues.

I understand about the recent join date but I thought that the best way to get info & a great Taco was to join the passionate enthusiasts that know them through & through & in the process I would be able to gain invaluable knowledge whilst on my search. I can't believe I didn't leave a name or number, my apologies as I normally leave some info as to not scare somebody off. Yes, I would rather buy a Taco here in Florida but we have less of them & especially w/a manual gearbox. When they do go up for sale they go quickly & I am forced to travel further afield & unfortunately for me the nicer trucks I've come across have been out West. Don't forget the amount of salt out East & in the Midwest, makes for even slimmer pickings.

I belong to Rennlist, Pelican Parts, AROC, PCA, SCCA, IMSA, SVRA, etc & am an avid collector, love cars ! Most of us have bought & sold from afar & this is the first time I have ever come across this type of attitude for genuinely trying to buy a car/truck. Not a bad attitude just different from what I'm use to. Just to be clear, everyone I've engaged w/on TW has been nice. Most of the sellers agreed to sell to me but they wanted CASH IN HAND & that was the whole point of my comment

If you hand over your full name & bank account number, I can only put money in your account & can not retrieve anything. You get my money & you still have the truck, risk is all on me. I hope that the individual on the other end is honest enough to then send me the title & have the truck for the shippers to collect The bank to bank wire is a little bit of safety for me & you know you are getting genuine $ bills as they are coming from your bank. I've bought many cars from different states & other countries & I've not had any issues other than maybe not getting the car in the condition described.

I'm here to make friends, educate myself & HOPEFULLY be able to purchase a Taco from a TW member, the true enthusiasts. I have no hard feelings & hope nobody has taken any offense to what I've had to say.

Sorry to turn .02 into :sadviolin:

As a new guy (my old account got deleted I guess), please read this in case you run across this individual's truck.

I contacted the seller and attempted to purchase the vehicle at his asking price (I tried to go 15k, he drug his feet until I caved at 16K). To say he was elusive would be the understatement of the century.

    A few things:
    - After days of negotiation, I still can't confirm his name (he provided an email with a first and last in it, but who knows)
    - Sometimes it will take him 6-8 hours to respond to a text message, after texting back/forth consistently for awhile
    - I've left him 2 voicemails on his phone and requested he call me - hasn't yet

Last night, I agreed to his asking price, after telling me he had "a bunch of people wanting it". I had been texting him for info...nothing for hours and hours...as soon as I said, "ok fine, 16K, let's do it", he immediately responds and tells me he has 2 others at 16k. He finally agrees to sell it to me "and keep it on the West coast". Ok bud, thanks. I'm coming from the Seattle area, so I was going to fly down and pick it up early next week. We agreed to have the truck inspected locally, and I would bring him a check from the credit union, which we would take to his bank and cash and do the paperwork. I have to book a ticket, and as you know the later you wait, the more the price goes up. He said to wait until this morning for the "green light".

So, I wait. I text him at 9:45 am local and ask, "are we good"? I get a response at ~11 am with, "Can I call you in a bit?". I respond and tell him that I have an hour, so yes, call!

    No call.

I text him when I have to go back into work and tell him that I'll be back on my phone after 3:30pm local.

In the mean time, I text him the name/address of a local shop, the name/location for getting a smog cert, appointment times for Friday, etc. Numerous detailed, well researched info to help get this ball rolling....

    Nothing.

I texted him about an hour ago and let him know that if I don't hear anything from him tonight, I'm moving on.

I've never been jerked around so much when trying to buy a vehicle. Not even from a dealer! I've purchased probably 35-40 cars as well, this isn't my first rodeo.

    What. The. Hell.

I actually hope he's ok, and nothing bad has happened. I didn't get a great vibe from the beginning, but WOW.

Same happened to me, got messed about but didn't get as far as you did. How funny that you used the "America" card to try & get the truck. :oldglory:lol That didn't even work. Maybe because the truck is Japanese ? :notsure:

Anyway it has been a a ride through the :mudding:to say the least !
