What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I haven't yet, I'm not sure where the issue is. I fixed all the other stuff and have just been avoiding the ebrake til I get the chance to sort it out.

 

Oh, I'll just start spraying stuff i guess.

 

I just like to pull the handle in and out and jiggle it a little towards the end of the handle's travel. Usually that loosens it up enough

 

Is the part of the cable inside the cab wrapped in any thing? So I can spray WD in it?

 

When mine froze it always had nothing to do with the cabin. Generally it was near the adjuster on the drivers side frame. Either snow would get compacted around it and freeze to a block of ice or it would freeze on the wheels themselves. I usually sprayed it all with de-icer and then WD-40.

 

I'm in ga so no snow.

 

Looks awesome! This is exactly what I have been planning to do. I was a little hesitant as I've never seen a white one color matched. After seeing your results, I'm sold.

Can you briefly describe the processes you took? Were your bumpers chrome?

 

So you're saying is that me jiggling the handle, pulling/pushing on it repeatedly when it's really cold out won't help?

 

Go through any puddles/water crossings before a cold snap?

Oh that will help, and can help it break free if it is stuck I just meant about lubing anything in the cab. I always was worried that forcing it too much will potentially cause the cable to snap so I rather look for the source of the freeze/stuck rather than forcing it if it is stuck. Another potential issue I saw was that the pads froze to the drums slightly (e brake releases but truck is stuck and won't go) and it makes quite a noise when it breaks free.

It displaces water, and silicon cause it doesn't attract dirt. I think?

Silicone wd40 is what I meant

 

Wd40 makes a silicone lube

 

I know there's a use duck tape and WD-40 chart for your vehicle here somewhere.

I use it to spray my CV boots every now and then. Pretty good stuff.

You should be able to visually see where the hang up is. Pull the ebrake in and out and take note of which springs/arms moved and which didn't under the truck.

 

Gave him a bath after a couple of months of accumulating snowy, slushy, wet, salty crud.

You'll be able to see the cable underneath the driver side frame rail. Just spray the shit out of it.
