Gotcha. Felt like if I went slower I was putting too much heat into it. Like if I went slower the whole piece of metal was glowing lol. Less voltage i guess?

 

Yeah your penetration should be controlled by your voltage not by how quick you move your bead. Glowing is good to a certain extent. You start burning through its too much

 

Yea and remeber that mig burns hot and makes everything hot. Why shit is easy to warp with mig. One of the advantages of TIG is it's more localized heat. Flux is even worse then gas mig though so it's even hotter.

steady hand and getting your heat right. It's really not too difficult if you are mechanically inclined at all.

 

Yea mig is pretty easy to pick up. Then it's all about just doing it consistently. I really wanna do TIG

 

Yeah I would like to be better at it myself. I like that it takes a little more effort than mig. Especially when you use the pedal

 

ive never done it. Would like too. But probably wont get a hold of one for a long long time.

 

yea but its not where near as versatile or handy as MIG. Not called a steel hot glue gun for nothing. I'd never not have a MIG.

Tig has its place for pretty welds. Mig is great for volume welding. Arc is all about the penetration and abilty to burn through crud and paint easier. They all have their place. I enjoy a good radiator braze/solder with acetylene torch when i get bored. I feel that is more delicate than mig.

 

@Speedytech7 did you get a number from the hot girl that liked ur truck at daft badger? just filled a growler and i think she was there i can go back and check for you? =) @m3bassman or wait.....was she into bens rig?

 

CVJ says the true criteria they use for determining (from the outside) whether a given axle is OEM, is the tulip shape. The three scallops.

Compare it to one of your original axles to see the difference.

 

That's the route I took only with Monte's old axles, not mine.

 

No he traded them in and got a different set..franks axles went to who knows who...

 

I only have one CVJ so far. I will be ordering the other one in the next few weeks.

The quality of the one they sent me is excellent. Looks like a brand new unit.
