Wrong.

Both players have the right to their spot on the field. Chancellor does not HAVE to be going for the ball, if he is in a spot the offensive player can not choose to try and run through him or even initiate the contact which he clearly did. Think of this when it comes to a WR pushing off which is flagged quite a bit. The DB is standing in a spot and the WR pushes off to get to the ball. That is flagged because you can't initiate the contact as the WR or the DB. No contact after 5 yards, regardless of position.

Now, this does not count if the players are in the act of making the catch... then there can be contact because each player has a right to the ball. This contact was before that point though and initiated by the offensive player.

yup, thats just the type of player he is. Last year he tried to twist greg olsen and cam newton's ankle off after they were already down. Luckily he was caught and fined for it. He's the kind of thug player who would be in jail if he wasnt in the nfl

The TV camera angle was basically from down by Ben's feet in that shot, no wonder we missed it in the live broadcast.

That said, when he sacked Ben, I saw that something looked wierd, he double-hitched while getting up but I didn't see why. Now we do.

Nothing about it was legal, hit him with the crown of his helmet. Any time you hit anyone with the crown it should be a penalty.

Initiating Contact With the Crown of the Helmet.It is a foul if a runner or tackler initiates forcible contact by delivering a blow with the top/crown of his helmet against an opponent when both players are clearly outside the tackle box (an area extending from tackle to tackle and from three yards beyond the line of scrimmage to the offensive team's end line). Incidental contact by the helmet of a runner or tackler against an opponent shall not be a foul.

 

I've watched the replay and you're full of shit on this one. The angle is all wrong for 'moving him away'. He was yanking him around.

FFS, that's Mike Munchak. The hall of fame o-lineman. Frankly I'm surprised he didn't do worse.

100% on purpose, doesn't matter if it was incidental.. He launched himself with the crown of his helmet, it doesn't matter where he hits. If you launch yourself with the crown and make contact anywhere, it's a penalty.
