NW WA Meet / BS Thread

Next step for me is HAM.

 

Well if there's anyone who feels left out, I'll most likely be heading out somewhere for a run this Saturday also. Some where along the I90 corridor. A few friends asked me about a run this weekend since I've got my rig fixed up. So far it will be me, and 2 other buddies, one in a scout, and another in a jeep. Destination TBD.

 

I think out of the box this radio is closer to 3 watts than 4. Many radios can be tuned for a bit more than 4 watts. +1 on the HAM radio.

Last time I went up I-90 all forest roads that we tried were setup for sleds only so keep that in mind.

 

The road to gallager, does that turn into a snow mobile only trail? Never really been up there in the winter time. I know the last run we went on, that road and stampede pass turn into snow mobile access only.

 

Last year they closed Salmon La Sac right by the ranger station. Haven't been there recently but I would bet it's the same right about now.

I love the midland one as well, but found that i got better reception for some Weird and unexplainable way with the cheaper model with the longer antenna which by the way was rated horribly haha have both, and both are great

 

I'll keep you posted. It basically revolves around finding somewhere to go that isn't just driving gravel roads. If you've got any ideas, let me know.

 

Is there still a group of guys who have Monday off planning to go wheeling that day?

I was out there a few weeks ago, there was nothing I could find off I90 that wasn't closed, ended up going up Blewitt, which was cool. Then I accidentally got drunk in Leavenworth. Also cool. I didn't try anything east of Cle Elum.

I haven't gotten to actually use mine yet, but it seems very well put together. The tiny antenna is not going to kick ass, so I just ordered an external one to start with. I'm rather happy with the idea of being able to have a handheld while doing things like spotting and winching though.

I'm interested, when ya thinking?

 

That's petty much what I thought. Might just head out to the ole middle fork/Taylor river area.
