The Frankenstein Build! LT/Expo/Trail rig..and BS

I'm thinking I will pass on doing the Rubicon trail this year. The redhead is probably capable enough, not sure the driver is tho. And it doesn't seem worth it to me to risk breaking something that far from home. I not in a position to call someone with a tow rig if I did run into trouble.

I'm am sure you'll be able to get a good group of guys together to join you in that adventure.

Maybe you should have if what we do is so boring in frank..

Personally, I have found plenty of pucker factor in our past trips. I don't have a need to bump it up a notch.

 

I think you guys are over thinking rubi. It's not THAT bad. You don't have to do the hard lines and there are plenty of by passes..

Why not do rubi in August and then Utah for two weeks in oct late sept?

 

Id do two weeks in Utah. And week on rubi. And when I've said rubi I've always meant rubi plus trails around it. Or on the way. was pretty clear on that around the camp fire and other times. Just like we always do. How is that not like our normal trips??

And yea right man. Not even I will do all the hard stuff on rubi. Come on. I don't have a death wish.

And as for traffic. Probably be just like alpine loop area. Or whipsaw. But other trails will be more sparse I'm sure.

 

Okay, knew idea. Mike what do you want to do? Like where and how long. Same for you ben. I know you want to do Utah but what else?

This seems as good a place to discuss this as any.

I think you know what I want to do. I have been saying it. I want to go back to Canada. A 2 week adventure so 16 days including 2 days before and 2 days after for travel to and from.

I would like to follow rickashay and explore the northern Canadian Rockies in and around Banff. At least to start with.

It would be easy enough to do stuff leading up to such a trip. Like begin at Goose, follow it with Independence and then onto Glacier before heading into Canada. Or starting at Glacier and then adding on more after Banff, like working our way to central British Columbia, Prince George and beyond. I'm pretty sure it would be easy to fill up 2 weeks.

I trip like this doesn't have to be in August but can't be too early in July either. It can be in September, as long as its before the winter weather starts.

 

Yea be easy to two week for Canada. But again. Finite amount of time for me to make money so two weeks off in August/September not very appealing to me. Canada is though. Have to sit on that.

Another factor is that maybe ill get a job offering right off the bat or middle of summer..which would suck.

I'm gonna look at rubi more too. But basically you and ben would rather go to Canada for two weeks then moab for a week. Noted

 

Just to clear some misconceptions: Banff isn't the northern Canadian Rockies, it's south. And September "central" Rocky Mountain weather is like this :

Looks sweet!! I know it does tend to get cold in September. Does here anyways. That's archery season here. Used to start snowing sometimes on us. But not usually till oct

 

I've never wheeled down there, so I can't say. Most of my wheeling is up toward Robb or Rocky Mountain House.

You could join untitledoffroad.com. That's a group local to Calgary. They'll know the southern Rockies best. I haven't wheeled with them yet, but I hope to get out with them sometime next summer.

 

If you guys do make it up here (central Rockies, not southern Rockies) this summer, there's a couple of us that would be able to take you out for a couple of days. The area would be the same as those pictures I posted.

I'm basically doing the same, seeing if any of this would be possible for me. Canada looks like a blast and Moab is on my list too.

Sluggo was one of the only 2 or 3 rigs that never needed a winch. I was using someone else's spre 35 but that's besides the point

It was awesome! Solid challenge! Id give it a 7+ out of 10. If you're in the back and everyone rutted it out before you (Dylan lol) 8+ with the "easy" lines. There are a couple hard options with a 10+ section at the very end.
