We have a CRV and Tacoma. I believe they are both equally as reliable and hold their value

I'm 29. I bought my first new Tacoma at 26. With a decent job it's not hard to own a Tacoma or Ridgeline. I owned a new Ranger at 20 while in school. I could of got a Tacoma but the payments made me uncomfortable.

I wouldn't doubt that's a part of it. However, in an open market, the 2016 is gaining percentage sales and that's something. I can grab the chart when I get home but you saw it a while back in the 2016 Canada thread.

You're taking about brand loyalty. That's not something you design one vehicle for. It's a bottom up approach that starts with superior reliability and cutting edge dream designs to lure buyers in. Honda is rapidly losing Civic market share in Canada because of poor quality and design in the early 2010's. Companies like Ford that are putting dream vehicles for young people within arms reach (Boss Mustang, ST, SVT Raptor) will gain share but it has nothing to do with those people wanting to sup up their minivans. It has to do with buying a trusted name with good recognition.

Exactly. This is not even a truck imo. This will have very little impact on Tacoma sales. Muffy will keep one in the garage to tote adirondack chairs to the house in the Hamptons. It'll sell like the present model. Badly. It s a minivan with an open back.

Why ? Who's paying for frame replacements. I don't know anyone that paid for a Tacoma frame replacement.

Best quote I've seen about the new Ridgeline sums up what it is:
Honda is once again targeting the full sized truck buyers... because that worked so well long term last time they tried it lol.

BTW the gap is fake, or at least fake by the standards of other trucks. Look at how the back window sits versus the "gap".

Really folks? And some folks think the gen3's are ugly? This ridgeline has the typical Japanese sedan front end. Talk about boring?

So did I. However, everyone from the Honda forum on here was SWEARING that they knew a guy who said the gap was real and straight through. Which of course everyone knew was BS because for that to work Honda would of had to of subframed this truck well past the point of practicality.

Yep same here. Been buying new since I was 23. I'm 30 now and still work in IT since it pays the bills and is fun.

A separate box just wouldn't of made sense. Though I can see why some thought as such, as you can get a Transit, Sprinter, etc (uni-body) in a chassis cab

Yes but those vehicles are subframed to the nines. They are almost a BOF with a unibody shell for extra rigidity because of the extreme payload ratings. I think the Transit can take ~4500 lbs internally on the sticker.

Honda couldn't afford to add all that weight... both to ruin the drivability and cost wise.

I have grown to like the 3rd Gen...but the overly machismo style of most of the trucks out there just scream "I am insecure with my man-hood"...

That new Titan concept looks like a Transformer...(I like under the radar, Honda did a great job)

Why I said a separate box on the Honda, wouldn't make sense...(platform is too small)...Hell, they way it is now 1600 lbs payload is stellar!

To be honest, I thought the box was going to be separate early on, by what I read.

    Yup.

BTW Honda DID NOT CONFIRM 1600 lbs as the payload number! They said that it would have about 1600 lbs of payload. That's still great but I have a funny feeling it'll be about the same as the 2WD Tacoma when confirmed.

The box is also super short heightwise. The wheel wells are 2" tall...

that is ok, be easier fussing with tie-downs, 'cause this is what I would use it for...and for not hauling wood or dirt. :D
