Mom told me yesterday if her and dad won they'd buy me a house and a camper.
She texted me this morning that dad won $8.
I asked when my camper was going to be delivered :D

Trying to start my quilt - queen size, for my bed. First big project like this so I'm making sure I have a good plan before I start. It will be about 8 feet square when I'm done and look something like this (same block, different colors)

Pretty That's a complicated pattern for your first big quilt. Lots of small pieces

It won't be too bad I don't think...I made a few practice blocks and they go pretty fast for the sewing portion, the cutting is what takes forever. They will be 6" square and I'll need around 250 to do what I want. Sample of a single block

Pfffttt!! Ha. It's like 200 miles from the nuclear site and besides nowadays there are so many controls and rules for nuclear sites that I actually am exposed to less radiation working there than the average person is exposed to from natural causes like the sun and air.

I'm guessing you hung out at home planning your quilt (instead of the better option to get out the snowshoes :D). I like the design but what colors are you planning; and about how would that take to complete.
The wife of my former boss was into quilting and had a nifty frame to put all the pieces together, do you? My grandmother did it all in her lap.

You have forest access a little closer you than I do ( 15 & 60miles to the west, but also have a state park with 36 miles of trails (biking & hiking, snowshoeing) in my back yard. It gets pretty busy on weekends and I have it mostly to myself during the week. It's been great for my ankle PT.

. I've been hoarding fabric for years, it's time to start it. Spent last winter finishing up a bunch of other projects so I could clear the way for this now
    Lies! All lies!
purples, blues, teals, magenta, and orange is what I'm going with. Not sure on time but I'm aiming for 2 months. Took me roughly 10 hours to make 24 test blocks and I need about 250 for the quilt. So 100 hours divided into weekends and maybe a couple hours during the week... I'm leaving the actual quilting to a pro, a friend of mine has been sewing all her life (family owns a fabric store) and she's agreed to do the quilting for me.

So this week is already starting with weird requests at work. Today's special was "how good do you think my living room would look with a 'modern beige' on the walls?" o_O. I looked at the lady like dafuq is 'modern beige'? Beige is beige and I can't tell the difference between them lol
