Juan build one yourself :), If you have the patients you will have a way better result than any "OEM replacement"

An audiophile will tell you to build your own system, and they are probably right. That said, I am one that prefers the stock look. If the stock look is important to you too then it is possible to significantly beef up the Audio Plus system with an amp, sub, and new speakers. I went with the Alpine Power Pack amp, Kicker Hideaway powered sub and some new Kenwood 6X9 speakers. I am very happy with the sound and everything still looks stock.

$1400 can go a long way towards a better system. Not to mention the factory speakers are made of paper.

    Go aftermarket. You can't lose.

Upgraded speakers, amp(s) and subwoofer(s) can be done using factory head unit to maintain that stock look.

I had a set of Focal speakers dropped in mine....world of difference.

Can't speak to the Tacoma version of OEM audio, but the Scion FR-S version is quite good. Good sound, balanced bass, and quality components. Hard to beat for the money. You can achieve a lot with the same money but you'll be spending a lot more time and it won't be as clean an install.

OEM Audio Plus actually uses carbon fiber aftermarket speakers not the stock paper ones. $1400 for speakers, a sub woofer, enclosure that fits perfectly behind the rear seat, two amps, and all the wiring and connectors you need isn't that bad in my opinion. Sure I could build a system and make it look clean with the stock head unit but for someone that doesn't want to take the time to do it this seems like a good alternative. I would still like to hear one in person though.

Here's a link to another thread with a decent amount of info.

    Basic fun stuff!
I've been very interested in the OEM + system as well. I stopped by a few dealers and heard some demo's on the FRS and Scion TC. I have to say for a plug and play system this has changed my opinion on what a plug and play system can do if done right. The system had very clean bass, great mids, and balanced highs for each song. I have done many full aftermarket systems and not sure I want to deal with reliability issues I've dealt with in the past. Also on the same note, I'm not looking to have a system to bump and rock the whole neighborhood either. I've already been down the route of a Pioneer D3 radio in the truck and wasn't completely happy with fitment issues which is why I'm back to stock for now still hunting like you. Post some pictures of your own built system if you go this route or if you get the OEM +, give us an update please.

This is the boat I'm in as well. I've seen a lack of bass as the one complaint with the oem+ systems but I'm not looking for competition level bass just enough to fill out the music. Looking forward to seeing what the OP does here.

Its not about competition lvl bass, its about tonality, accuracy, frequency response spectrum etc.
I cannot stand a lack of mid bass, or any major gaps in the entire freq range.

Most people that hear my system will say, holy i have never knew that " sound, noise, note" was even in that song.
Just wait, once we fully release our OEM setup no one will be able to compare, not even close. Full blown SQ systems will be about the only ones that can contend.

What's your target price on releasing your audio kit? Also does it retain factory radio?
