I have an '09 sport, today I had to turn around on a road that had about 4-6" of slick mud which was off chambered and rutted. I turned around fine, but getting start to back was up hill (along with being muddy and off chambered). I was in 4wd high and all four wheel spinning starting to gain some momentum when the engine output was regulated, killing momentum. I did get out but it was not pretty, I would have preferred to just kept my momentum. I was under the impression that 4wd high is limited didn't regulate output?

Just curious what is the best driving mode for this situation? 4low, 4low with the yellow wire mod? 4high turning off trac?

I regret not buying off road 8 years ago, but curious to hear from other sport owners who get there trucks muddy. :)

    Thanks

I was hoping this question wouldn't come up :), but St Maxx's that are about down to the wear bars. Shouldn't have been there with but once I realized how bad the road was going to get, i was committed.

In slick mud and bald tires, not much you can do...

Have to be honest, the tires were still throwing mud, I was impressed they were still grabbing. I just wish I could have kept them spinning.

Thanks I was looking for this last night, I couldn't find it.

Just curious from people who take their Sports out in the mud, what setting they found most effective.

I've noticed this aswell. Even with everything turned off completely, button held down for 3 seconds, after spinning the tired for 15 seconds or longer it will cut power. It's very brief but it is enough to cause you to lose momentum every time. It's even worse when your turning the wheel back and forth as soon as you get close to full lock it cuts the power. The only way I've been able to over come this is to pull the abs fuse. If you regularly spend time in mud or snow it might be worth your time to do this.

    Thanks, that's a great link.

I thought there would be more sport owners chiming in, I guess they just throw it in 4h and be done with it?

a quick tap of the traction control button would of turned off engine regulation and kept the auto lsd function going. This woulda allowed you to keep momentum.

The STT is a terrific mud tire...and I ran ST as a rear traction tire for years on my RAM 1500, and still have a set on the 62 Town Wagon.
