I'd like to have somebody dig and pour the foundation. Everything else I'd do myself until it came time to wire in the solar, which I'd leave to a real electrician. Between working for a building contractor and redoing a couple of houses of my own I've seen how often things get done cheaply when houses are built and I'm not sure I'd trust anyone else. Everything from nailing down the subfloor instead of gluing & screwing to using regular drywall in the bathrooms instead of the waterproof stuff.

    Precisely.

    That sucks. Gravel driveway FTW.

I work for a large commercial contractor and one of my co-workers just had a house built. He was renting the house next to his new place so he kept a close eye on them and you wouldn't believe the stories of the stuff he'd catch every night when he went home. The G.C. he hired I'm sure absolutely hated him by the end because he was on top of their quality and workmanship. He did pay good money for it and wrote a lot of stuff into his contract to make sure it was done right, especially items like waterproofing, flashing and roofing, stuff that gets buried and is really difficult and expensive to fix later. It's amazing what they tried to get away with and the corners they'd cut. I'm sure most common home owners would never know they got screwed or what was left out.

Yeah, it's crazy. We saw shit like customers had spec'd typar housewrap but the contractor sub'd tarpaper instead, or had done regular lightweight tarpaper instead of ice & water shield on the roof, roof flashing that was bent without a dripedge, aluminum gutters held in place with steel nails, all kinds of shortcut shit. Ridiculous.

Doesn't that hurt? I would think if you were doing that, if you weren't at exactly the correct angle then you are going to hit balls first and you don't even have a suit on to help??? Ouch!

I tried to change the subject with cool truck stuff, yet you insist on talking about old naked dudes in pools.

    Not cool.

This is the New England BS Thread, we are in no way obligated to discuss truck stuff and have a very consistent history of completely derailing any conversation that is on the up and up and promptly throwing it right back in the gutter. I'm going with the usual response, "I blame Alex".

Got about 8 inches of snow out of that storm last night. Not a lot, especially for how light and fluffy it was. Glad I don't still snowblow, though. My neighbor snowblows and he looked like a ghost when I drove past him this morning because he was coated from head to toe in powder.

Well, it IS his fault. :notsure:

I think we ended up with an inch. I shoveled it when I got home from old man hockey last night around 12:30, didn't want to run into the same issue I had after that last little storm where my driveway became a sheet of ice.

If I did I think I would do Brute Force. Not now though. Plus even if I wanted too I'd get ridiculed in here for it. Lol

We got mostly crusty ice with a dusting of snow over it so nothing to shovel. My MIL lives about 6 miles away from us and I noticed her car had 4 times the snow on top of it.

Yeah, we had a similar thing here. I got around 8 inches at my house, but a guy who lives 20 minutes away from me outside of Lisbon only got around 3

That's a good choice, let me know if you want to see one in person if you decide you want to pull the trigger.
